I have had hep-c for 9 years. Been ding real good. Im 5 foot tall weigh 115 and ride just about any motorcycle you put me on..But here dec. 4th I ended up with e-coli. I was layed up 4 9 days before I called an ambulance, stayed in the hospital for 5 more, came hoem to be on antibiotics for 21 more. Thats 35 days total I had this toxin posining in my system. But that was 6 months ago & I went from riding motorcycles to not being able to hardly bath myself. Im having serizes were I go blind..Im week ALL the time. I litterally feel like Im slowly but surly dieing a very slow death. I can't get my doctor to understand. Hes run blood work & an MRI, but is finding nothing. In the mean time Im slowly watching my life fade..What is wrong with me, what did this e-coli do to me. I was fine untill then, with the exseptions on hep-c

I don't know if e-coli makes hep c worse or not. There aren't any doctors on this forum. If you had plenty of strength before the e-coli, it doesn't seem like 30 days later the hep c would have gotten that much worse. I wonder what kinds of blood tests you doctor did. Maybe you need to try another doctor.
BTW, a MRI can't tell anything about toxins or hep c unless there are tumors.

Like Dianne, I doubt your problem has anything to do with hep C. It sounds like the E.Coli is more likely. If I were you I'd see an Infectious Disease doc ASAP. Are you anywhere near the Mayo Clinic in AZ?

sorry to hear about your exposure to E-coli. It ca be a nasty bug for sure.

I would agree with the others that your symptoms could certainly be related to that exposure, however hopfully you are under the care also of a Hepatologist or knowlegable G.I to monitor your HCV.

You say you have had HCV for nine years,,however did that mean that is when you were diagnosed?  And if so...could you have had  it for much longer?

Have you ever had a liver biopsy to ascertain the scarring of your liver?

Feeling the way you do ,,I would also want to rule out that indeed it was not from the HCV.

Good luck..
