Sudden nausea/tiredness/soreness

Hi,

I have never used intravenous drugs or had a blood transfusion.

I am 36 and male, and was about 2 stone overweight at the time, had been drinking around 30 units a week in 10 unit sessions over about 10 years and below 25 units a week before that since age 18.

About 2 months ago I woke up with nausea, tiredness and a dull ache in the liver area. without vomiting or jaundice but with some mental deterioration.

This worsened over the first 10 days despite me completely giving up drinking and eating well. Since then it has steadily improved to a point where my only main symptom is some discomfort in the liver area.

I am completely abstaining from drink and plan to do so permanently from now on.

MY blood tests have both been normal except for raised Alkaline Phosphatase of 150 after 1 week and 159 after 6 weeks.

My doctor says this is unusual for alcohol related problems and is not sure what is wrong with me at present, I suspect Alcoholic Hepatits but wouldn't this give a different blood test reading?

As a recovering alcoholic, I recall having your symptoms after a binge. Alcohol poisioning. Abstinance is something you need to think about permanantly. AA saved my life. Not sure about the Alkaline, but someone will weigh in on that soon probably. Good Luck to you.
