Five posts and all derogatory remarks toward CoWriter. Why don't you post something productive instead. Obviously, Co doesn't find you worthy of a response. I'm getting tired of your nasty comments. This forum is for people with hepc who are sick and need advice. Back off and act like you have some sense and maturity of just go away.
Thanks everyone for posting your numbers. Extra kudos to willing for going through a musty box.
Willing, I see the downtrend in your numbers, but it's over a long period of time, and how can I put this.... we ain't getting any younger (or better looking for that matter). From this thread we see that a 20 pt uptick can happen at any time. Add that to you're last number and you're right back up there dancing with the hot young folk.
My platelet levels, which are not normal, (just extraordinary--like the bug) ranged between 178 and 246. Not bragging here, just the facts.
Speaking of hormones: (someone did mention hormones in this post, right?)
Do you know how to make a hormone?????.......
Don't pay her!
Hey Goof, take care, I've been reading about you and thinking about you a lot.
Take care and don't make a hor moan......
Bug
Thanks for those spleen sizes. I hope GD-in-training is taking good notes on how to keep a sense of humor in tough times; me, I just take to shameless whining,b**ing, and moaning...
Anyway, went through a shoebox of musty old CBC records and this is what I got for platelets:
03/30/93 174
07/19/93 167
05/07/01 172
04/12/02 164
02/03/03 175
02/17/04 142 one month eot
04/25/05 156
01/19/07 235
03/18/08 143
I have scads on on-tx tests but these were the only ones off. Variation looks a bit wider than 20; putting aside the 235 as an outlier and the Feb 04 as unreliable since it was only a month after tx my Dr.' suspicions may be on target after all.
and here I am wondering how you got all those nifty labels in there.....
LOL!
>> I have Kaiser....
ROFL
I Love your sense of humor.
I was tested for H. Pylori by bx when an endoscopy revealed some erosion...
LOL....besides the fact that there's no visible signs of blood supply
>> Well, that could sure account for the low platelets.
, no surgeon would wear such oversized gloves during surgery....LOL
>> I have Kaiser....

Hi Meki!
Swinging?
Are we back to monkey sex again?
*GRIN*
"it's clearly more than liver architecture."
I read a study recently that showed an association between H.Pylori infection and low platelets. And many Hep C patients have H.Pylori....
"Here's a photo they took of mine :) "
LOL....besides the fact that there's no visible signs of blood supply, no surgeon would wear such oversized gloves during surgery....LOL
Thanks for the input on the platelet ranges everyone. One interesting point, my hepatologist cautioned me not to read too much into platelets remaining low. He says they've put in brand new livers and the platelets remained low. They don't fully understand the mechanism involved, but it's clearly more than liver architecture.
Willing - I can't lay my hands on the paperwork to answer your question, but 18-13 or 16-12 seem like likely hi-lows.
Here's a photo they took of mine :)

75 to 93
Which is not so bad but several possible trials draw a line at 90 and therefore I have missed out on new stuff because of low plalets.
goof: ehh, hormones - who needs 'em. All the best with the upcoming ordeal. Currently I'm at 143; Have tests going back to '93 and 20-25 seems to be the bounce range - but am about to pin that fluctuation down more closely since I suspect one of my DRs is reading too much into this now being below normal. BTW - what were your pre-post spleen diameters?
evangelin: I've been meaning to ask you whether you had already looked into eltrombopag to improve your husband's platelet count for new tx's. Seems to be getting some good results:

Mine have been on a downward curve --Starting 151, week 2 109, week 4 106. week 6 93
Pre-tx- 287
During tx- 154--2 weeks in & dropping throughout to 100 at 1 week post).

"btw are you now, or have you treated for Hepc in the past"
ahhh....the old, "you don't have it, therefore you'll never know what it's like".
Darn it, now my secret's out....LOL
"just a curious question"
Which I had already answered.
Jim: Or questioning that I ever once had one.......
Eric: Thanks, pal. Bouncing more than Pam! Those are some nice numbers. Will you treat soon? My spleen returned to normal immediately after treatment. It may yet be a largish normal, but it dropped quite a bit in size on the first post-SVR US.
Wow, your platelet counts look fabulous. My husband Joe, has compensated cirrhosis and his have been between the low 40's to high 70's for the last year. He is currently at week 16 of tx (3rd try) and they have stayed in the 50's with little change so far. I guess I thought all cirrhotics had really low platelets. Gauf's have been similar to Joe's and his haven't changed much during tx either. I have been giving Joe 10 mg of melatonin and 2-3 shark oils caps to help keep them up. I got the idea from the Life extension foundation website. Gauf is also taking these supps. but I think he takes less of the melatonin. I really wonder if this is working to keep those platelets up ?
from six draws over the past year my platelets have ranged from 165,000 to 222,000. i've been dx'd with compensated cirrhosis, have moderate splenomegaly and have never treated.

Goofy: her taste impeccable

I think it was more that she clicked on your picture to confirm your thyroid was missing. Very thorough.
CO: So I already knew. But I did click on his profile to check out his picture.

"Co" has a professional background and she's usually on the money, not to mention she has a good sense of humor, as for example the above quote.

Ahem. I fail to see how that demonstrates a sense of humor. It surely makes a case for her eyesight remaining strong, her taste impeccable, and her computer monitor in good order. But a sense of humor? I don't get it :)
Well, now we know who you are, btw are you now, or have you treated for Hepc in the past, just a curious question. Jmjm I am well aware of CoWriter professional background by her domineer as with her patients and prior post.
If you want to make me look bad you're gonna have to try alot harder....and I'll have fun answering.
Don’t flatter yourself.

Hope this finds you well.
