TEST QUESTION

i done a hepatitis test and it came back 0.04  <1.00  what does that mean? how lond after exposure should you test for it?

i did a hepatitis c test antibody

i would say that you are positive for hep c antibody - this does not mean you are actively infected with the virus - a pcr viral load test must be done to confirm this - ask your dr to order a viral load test or refer you to a specialist dealing with hcv treatment

im assuming it was a hep c antibody test - not hep a,b,etc - is this the case

upon further review - lol - a .04 may not be a positive - i would still have the pcr - if i were you

i did it through quest and they sent mt the results  it says

in range               reference range          non- reactive
  0.04                           <1.00

since none of the websites i visited were bright enough to explain the numbers - and the lab where you got tested wasnt bright enough to say positive or negative - all i can tell you is antibody tests are basically useless - often false positive and negative - id recommend a real test - its the only way to be sure - or call quest and /or ask your dr what the next step is - sorry dave - i saw the numbers explained somewhere - but couldnt reproduce it

i called and they said i was non reactive means negative

As mentioned above, If you have concerns about HCV, get a HEP C RNA VIRAL PCR QUAN test to see if you have it or not.  Good Luck !
