TSH 1.85 uIU/ml

im on week 22/24 now. Present TSH level on 18.02.09 from different LAB is 1.85 ulU/ml. Normal is 0.27-4.2. Two months ago on dated 22.12.08,values were as under.

TSH= 5.64       Normal 0.5 to 7.0
T3   = 2.10       Normal 1.08 to 3.14
T4   = 118        Normal 59-135

i wanna know what is happing. Lab results are showing that my TSH is getting lower. Am i going to hyper/ hypo? Or is every thing normal?? What does the results show??

From my extremely limited knowledge, I believe when the T3 and/or T4 are higher, they prompt the TSH to go lower.   When TSH is lower it's tending towards hyper.   When it's high, it tends towards hypo.   Diagnosis (like anything) is also sx dependant.

I was 'sub-clinical' hyper because T3 and T4 were normal and TSH hadn't bottomed out and the other two levels were still fluctuating (meaning the TSH may respond by rebalancing itself).   No symptoms apart from sleeplessness.

Towards EOT week 24 I started going hypo (common if you are hyper early in tx, as it can 'flip' to hypo under the onslaught of the IFN).  As soon as I stopped tx I tended back towards hyper, and from what I gather it may take months to years to stabilise with or without medication (or can stabilise quickly after tx).  So many variables...

I've found that Doctors, generally, appear to be a little more informed about thyroid than they are about HVC.     True hyper can be dangerous, but your levels won't change overnight unless they're already signalling an alert to your medical team, who will have given you medication by then.   Hypo has it's own set of symptoms which can be debilitating but manageable with meds (which need to be constantly adjusted a bit like blood pressure tablets etc).

Pre tx my TSH was 2.4, and dropped to .08 by 2 weeks into tx,  back up to .6 at week 24, and now back down to .07.   The others are still within normal range but bouncing around.   I'm being monitored monthly for thyroid at present, and post-tx, have become  less anxious about the levels.

The more I read about thyroid the more complicated it gets, especially around supplements/foods etc, to the point it became quite confusing.  Unless you want to get a specialist opinion,  go to your local library and search.   I doubt anyone could give a diagnosis on the net (although there is a thyroid site on Medhelp, where your question may receive a more precise reply).

According to what you are stating, your numbers are within the normal range. Your numbers look better then mine and my doctor is not worried. I have been monitored all the way through tx and these numbers do fluctuate.

I think you should stop worrying about your thyroid. The fatigue comes from the meds.

2 more weeks and you're done!!! I'm so happy for you!

Hugs, Marcia

I found the human body can take a wide range of TSH levels. I had normal TSH in July pre-treatment and then tested weeek 18 and TSH was 66 (NOT 6.6)  on December 16th and diagnosed as hypo. Went to Endo Jan 13th and TSH was 117. Started synthroid .75 Jan 14th. Feb 13th TSH was back to normal at 3.2. I am still on .75 synthroid. So I guess these tx meds can really mess with the thyroid, it seems as long as you know about it and keep an eye on it, it is easily treated. My antibodies were over 350 although normal range was less than 60. My symptoms were fatigue, dry skin and water weight gain. Gain 15 lbs one month, lost 15 the next after med.

alijee, Hang in there buddy, almost there.

My tsh also went up/down all thru tx, A LOT, but stayed in single digits.
My dr said some people need meds after tx for ever, some bounce back and don't. Some develop thyroid problems years after tx. The antibody tests are important to tell if you will develop permanent thyroid disease.

I was tested every 4 wks for tsh and once every 3 months for t3 t4
Now 6 wk post eot tsh finally got back to normal, and endo Dr said
my antibodies show I will probably never get thyroid disease.

My endo said the new 'high' for tsh was 3.0, but under 4.5 for some people is fine. Hoping mine even goes down farther. My pre tx tsh was 2.87

This is my 6 wk post eot thyroid panel from Quest labs.
Your countries tsh range is a lot higher than Quest in the USA ?
And all your ranges/tests seems different than Quest ?
