might and may doesn't make it so
PREACH!!!!!!
Can't wait to see all my relapser friends (especially but not limited to of course) - SVR. I wish I could have done it, it blows the doors off 72 weeks and complying to that sure was no picnic! If you can't remember to take your meds for a little time like that then well I guess you don't want to clear in the first place - there are reminder tricks and stuff after all! Gosh sakes buy a little alarm clock and a note book - cost under $10 - results pricless.
That article may be new, but the information is old. The issue of compliance is the same for the PI"s as it is for SOC. Vertex is doing a rolling application, so they have been submitting information for a while now.
It should be soon, I have heard late winter 2011.
as a 3 time treater, the last one with telaprevir did the trick. it is someting we need for those that have not cleared yet.
As relapser, I look to look at the release of Telaprevir in a positive light.
No there is nothing new in this article that we didn't already know about - this has been common knowledge for many years. In fact, originally there were more problems that they had but they have since been taken care of.
Of course adding an additional agent will make it perhaps tougher but considering you have less time to do treatment and better odds it would be worth it. Treatment is never easy even without adding anything but doing 72 weeks with anemia vs. 24 with anemia well........
read this aritcle that botox found. I dont want to. Im in a good mood. dont want to spread bad news. Maybe its a bad news paper?
Whatt? Ill read that thing, thats horible.
I meant at the top of the pile......it was just bad wording there in response to all the "warehoused" hep patients that have been set aside for so long WAITING while they figuire out something to do with them. They need and deserve these meds now!!!!!!!!
Anyway I have someone coming in right now to pick up my bosses Ferrari so can't really respond except to say I am VERY sorry that the FL let you down (Famous Lawyer) I wish I knew something about law I would be happy to represent you!!!!!! ;)
Gotta run be back later!
Wow. Sounds like your life is bizarr (like mine) makes you wish to be sitting in a rocker on the (well I was gonna say on the front porch but in your case nooo) on the back porch, enjoying a nice, peacefull, uneventfull, uncomplictaited, peacefull life, with those rose color glasses on. Thats what I use to tell my 97 year friend.
I dont understand the list of friends on top of the trash heap? A trash heap dosnt sound good place for a friend to be. Explain? And yea I smoke too. Cant seem to quit...Ive taken my second shot. Did it last night. Im sleeping well and have absolutally not one side effect. That scares me. No pain no gain? Is something wrong with my medicine?
Well noo luck with the Famous lawyer. They called , we talked, they said it sounds like I do have a case, unfortunitally there not sure there would be enough money in it for their law firm. They recomend I use a local lawyer who can negotiate a share of the personal injury case (my husbands). So I got apt. with Jeff Mixon an ole judge. Maybe? I think in my small town, Im going to have to find lawyer out of the mix. As the mennonites (next door) believe that they can save his soul, and they have done work for most these lawyers. oh I no its not nice, wish hubby would just do me and society a favor and check out.
Some how we started chatting on Telaprevir, Taleprevir....Lets hope that hits the market soon, especially for those in desperiate need..Later Ginger
Oh he was cremated over 3 years ago after in a fit of alcoholism/drug addiction he decide to get even with for never going back to him and so he committed suicide on my front porch one night. I can't prove anything via him cause I dont think they can figure it out from ashes! It's not a secret because when it happened I was on the forum at the time and so if anyone ever looked it up they could find it easily enough. Some people make stuff up and then lie about it but I dont have the incclination to do so. I figure maybe it will help somebody else out there - there is no other good that can come of that situation.
Yes there is a list of my good friends I want to see right up there at the top of the trash heap ;) They have waited and waited and done research and even been involved in trials so I think they should get first dibs for sure.
Is riba a carcinogen I don't know, probably technicall but what I can tell you for sure is that hepC can cause liver cancel which is almost always fatal so the trade off........worth it. Heck I smoke and I know cigs aren't good for me at least riba has a good value at what it does :)
Yes Magnum was it!!! You should send him a message, just incase he dos'nt see this post...I think he and many people are in need of this med first, like susan 400, Trinity4 and many , many more. Maybe it will help some of the folks on the transplant list, prior or after they recieve. I dont know how that works.
Hum, what did your X die of? They can tell from blood work. There was a piece on 20/20 or nightline or ?. Where this romeo dude knew he had aids and gave it to lots of nice ladies. He was a user and a liar to the women. They gave him life in prison. They took his blood and the ladies blood, and they did some sort of real extensive dna on the structure of the hiv genes. and their (the ladies) hiv genes were relaited to the dudes gene... Ofcourse this is not the exact words used. I am a simple spoken person, thats as best I can say it so you can understand...If it were to turn out I got this by having sex, prior. Then Ill take my lumps and go on..However, my husband already told me yea I gave it to ya, its curable, you just take pills for a year and your cured. Listening to other posts of all the people whom have tx several X's and are not cured. I now beg to differ. plus listening to how people wind up having other problems after tx. yikes. plus I just found out Riba is a car son a getic? I have not looked that big word up yet. But im pretty sure it stands for some sort of cancer causing chemical. hum.
I do wish you luck Ginger you know that :D
I could have gotten it from my husband (who had it since the mid80s) but...unfortunately I was no Saint and no way to prove that (plus he's dead a few years now anyway). I wish I had Famous Lawyer to talk to!!!!!!!! I can't wait to hear your report!!!!!!!!!!
As for tela all I know is it all sounds like good news that it is coming. Magnum (the fellow who has been trying for so long so hard to get this stuff) deserves to get it ASAP - before docs just start handing it out to people who haven't even been waiting for it or trying for it. That sounds totally prejudiced (it is) but - the people doing all the work learning about these things take priority in my personal opinion (mostly because i love them ;)
deb
Well I dont know if my study doctor is right or not. But when I said no need to talk about telapavir yet since they havnt even done their paperwork yet... He did correct me and said that they had filed the app.... But even better yet I was reading a post by somechick? wrote to some dude, his name starts with a M. and he tried to get a IND? you all probally saw that post..Anyways she said her husband spoke with a vertex rep..High up the lader and they are gonna have it available in March...That would be wonderfull, for all those people out there with higher stages of hep. that would actually be great for me too. I think I would have enough X to tx and cure? 8 mo's of health Ins.
Deb. On another good note, The famous lawyer is calling me @ 2;00pm. I spoke with one of our local a raited lawyers about sueing my husband for not telling me he had hepC and giving it to me. The way I see it he told the cop he was angry and fighting with, he told him he hoped he got what he had and died.(he was very drunk and bleeding). So he should of told his wife. Not only did he not tell me, but he put me at risk, by always grabbing my tooth brush, when he knew we both had gums that bleed when we brush. oh yea local lawyers were not interested. Famous lawyer has emailed me for months, weve played phone tag for over a month. And he has not blown me off. He's been on the news of all the major networks, Hes all over the internet and he has had much bigger (and much more lucrative) intentional Hep C cases. I just cant believe he has not blown me off months ago, when a local bigwig attourney has. I am happy, wish me luck...I dont believe anyone on this sight would intentionally put someone @ risk. I do understand that maybe people can spread the disease, because they dont know they have it.. Had that been the case with my husband I would of checked it off and forgave him for that part of the marriage. But he knew...Later Ginger
The news says they will file in 2101 or within weeks depending on which article you read but that they have not file yet.
FYI
Vertex To File Telaprevir® FDA Application “Within Weeks” « New ...Oct 25, 2010 ... Vertex To File Telaprevir® FDA Application “Within Weeks”. I am surprised — and happily so — that the filing of the FDA New Drug Application ...

But then there are articles saying they are ready to file back in August.
Honestly I had not read anywhere that they had filed yet. I would be interested to see something saying that they had because it's a huge difference.......if they started the rolling application where it goes to the FDA in dribs and drabs of pieces thats one thing - but I haven't even read that yet!
Don't despair. There could be special considerations made by the mfgs. as there are at the present for people with limited financial ability. They probably don't want to talk about that untill the time comes. Thank you for the post, this is more great news.

Yea I know. I was just putting it out there about what my study doc said..The fact that vertex had done the aplication/paper work for Tela. And that it would be available between june-august 2011 , for everyone else. Did every one vote today? eureka if this miricle pill/Bms product that im taking turns out to be a looser or I just recieve Soc and fail...I might be able to start. And maybe Ill be rich by then , and be able to afford Cobra...They do have to offer it. And you never know maybe this interferion will make me insane, and Ill hijack a armored truck (fully loaded ofcourse), if they catch me I can plea insanity and say it was the drugs and not me....LMAO.
My only concern would be that if your insurance expires in Nov 2011, starting in June would give you 24 weeks before your insurance runs out...that's cutting it pretty close, and if it's not approved until August, it'd leave you with some hefty out-of-pocket expenses the last half of treatment (and who knows what Tela will be priced at...) Just a thought.
Vertex has found that once people were aware that telaprevir could really cure them that compliance increased; this is one reason for improved SVR rates as the trial went on. Obviously, both patients and doctors will need to become educated on this issue, but it could actually lead to improved compliance over SOC.
One may also infer that since the Vertex trials were done without rescue drugs (not that I have read, that is) that the use of some of these drugs may further enable people to complete treatment, or at minimum, complete the most crucial 12 weeks.
Yes, there may be compliance issues or resistance issues which result from the use of PI's, but their use is going to drastically reduce the HCV infected rolls. There are some people for whom compliance will not be an issue but will still fail and possibly have resistance issues but the newer dual acting anti-virals are also in the works and will likely cure many for who triple therapy did not work for, without regard to reason.
They knew that resistance would be an issue before they dosed their first patient, so yes, this is nothing new.
