The sun

Hello,

Hope everyone is doing well.  Is it true that you're suppose to stay out of the sun??

Thanks
Shelli

I am not sure, but I bet someone will come along in a minute and know for sure.  I know some meds make people more sun sensitvie.
How are you feeling?

I have read here many times going in the sun on tx isn't a good thing. I'm sure others with more experience will ans soon. How are you feeling?

Yes, there are at least two different scales I am aware of that are used in my CBC's.

For ALT one is 10-40 the other 0-70
For AST one is 10-42 the other 0-55

Your CBC report should show which norm range is applied to that test.

I haven't heard anything about the sun's effects on us going through tx. But I do know that I seem to fatigue quicker under  sunlight.  But, that too might be a result of my RBN induced anemia or perhaps the Procrit.

Let's put it this way, forget about beach trips on tx. I found out about being in the sun the hard way. It hurts.

My doc told me to definately stay outta the sun!!
He says these meds can make you very photosensitive, and can create a whole new set of problems. Not to mention, I start getting sick to my stomach when the sun is beating down on me.

Yes, we are to stay out of the sun.  It should be in the papers that came with your meds.  But my dr said no sun.

Hope your doing well today.

Great, now I'm becoming nocturnal. I knew all these trips to the vampire dens would have an adverse affect.

I'm now more convinced than ever that the CBC is a ruse and what is really happening is that we're being converted into familiars ;-P

Makes one wonder if non-responding is an indication that the vamps found our blood to be too bitter.

I think next time I'm going to ask to be able to oversee this CBC testing to find out for myself if it's legit.

P.S. I think last nights Procrit might be kicking in and hope I didn't too many smileys for this post because all the smileys I would have needed might looking at me might have thrown me back into the blues ;-O

It does get easier as you go and with all the sxs I found that drinking a lot of water helped.

I lost about 32 lbs and just starting to put on a few lbs now that I'm done with tx 2 weeks.

One thing I've found that helps is to take Tylenol PM an hour prior to my injections.  This was recommended by my NP and I've recently read where Tylenol does address flu-like symptoms.

Something to think about

You should stay out of the sun.  I also, found that if I get too hot outside, even if it is just sitting in the shade, will make me a bit weaker and tired.  Just drains me; and I am not on Procrit, yet.  The heat and sun just does this to you.

Mishelli, I know what you mean when you say, I don't want to do that shot on Friday.  I thought the same thing a few times at the beginning.  It does get better and as, lilmoma and Mr. BB stated, keep extra strength tylenol on hand at all times and drink lots of water.  Do not over do the water.  You should be drinking at least half your body weight.
I promise, it will get better.  I did not think so either at the beginning; but it does.

Good Luck and enjoy your VACATION.

sun can dry you out BIG Time. especially when you first start treatment and the riba is causing riba-rash.  I'm on week 40 and used to be an AVID sunbather but have not gone once and have no intention to until I am done.

Too many stories of people suffering burns and trauma because of treatment. NO FUN FOR ME waaaa :(

My ALT norms according to my report is 5 - 65 and AST 5 - 50. Considering I started in the 200s I'm pretty happen being in the 20s now :)

I lost 20 pounds and was very skinny to start with  and 50% of my hair and had the riba rash bumps...I got real attractive REAL FAST on treatment but after a lifetime of worrying about every calorie I ate and stuff it was a real treat to be able to eat when I felt like it and whatever I wanted :)

A real treat of treatment if you ask me!  Of course now at week 40 I'm feeling much stronger and it's started to come back thank God...although I'm still skinny on the hair situation everyone says it comes back just GREAT.

Believe me it's worth it once you hear the words UNDETECTIBLE!

i have been told by the hep nurse to avoid the sun between 10 and 2PM for sure.   i am a gardener and it is difficult for me to be inside.   i have been putting suntan lotion # 30 on everyday.  i think going outside and being active is important this way i can avoid getting too self centered about this whole ordeal...keeping busy!  i am only three weeks into treatment.
