Thyroid Hypo or Hyper..what are the numbers?

Thyroid Hypo or Hyper..what are the numbers?

I can't start my TX until I get my thyroid numbers right.
I've been on Synthyroid since I had my thyroid removed due to multiple nodules (I think and so does my doc that it was caused by HepC, I've had it since 1981) first 125mcg (numbers down to 0.11), then 88mcg (up to 8.00), then 112mcg (down to 0.22) every time they change my dosage I have to wait at least 6 weeks to see what the numbers are. I just want to start the therapy. This is driving me crazy!
Currently my numbers are 0.24 I was on 112mcg, now they want to change the dosage to 100mcg!

I have gained weight progressively since the thyroid was removed. I eat around the same amount of food. This also drives me crazy.

Thyroid numbers should be 0.34 to 5.60. Hyper should be less than 0.34 and Hypo should be more than 5.60 right?

Here is the catch...I've been diagnosed as hypo and my numbers have been below 0.34.

Anybody know about this stuff?
I'm also posting this on the thyroid forum.

you will learn a lot on www.stopthethyroidmadness.com
i am on armour thyroid for low thyroid. also have multiple nodules/cysts on it.  but they are too small to biopsy.
i was cured of hepc in 03 with pegasys/copegus for 28 weeks.  and i do believe it wrecked havoc on my thyroid.  perhaps my thyroid was  compromised before that with the hepc,e tc.        but dr.s always said my thyroid was fine even after treatment.   finally saw an osteopath who took some action and gave me armour.
you will learn how to read your thyroid tests CORRECTLY on the website i listed above.  you owe it to yourself.

You probably taking too much off the thyroid hormone... so it made you "hyper" ??

I'm sorry, I really don't know.  I wish you all the best!

I was Hypo, then Hyper, then Hypo again. I finally found a good ND.  She put me on Westhroid and iodine.  Came up to normal.  Personally, I don't like the synthetics. Armour and Westhroid contain T3/T4 whereas the Synthroid only contains T4.  Lack of T3 can cause depression.

Hi
I was Hyper during and Hypo when I finished tx according to my endo. Never had problems till IFN/RIBA. Currently taking Eutirox 50 mg per day and supposed to be back in june. Don't feel too great yet (but my gammaray and the US didn't show anything abnormal in the gland)...But my endo says I'm hashimoto's for sure...??? How can she say that? She said the same thing before (supposedly I was silent Graves) and then she freaked when I normalized in 2 weeks...  I just think is a temporary reaction to IFN
I want to to take my test early to see if I went hyper again..cause I find it strange to have the bloodwork done so far apart.
I have increased my regular salt intake...to get more iodine (I was using hyposodium salt)

Any input will be greatly appreciated on this..
gracias

Extra salt? No way!!  You may try to take some kelp extract or just a single drop of iodine a few times per week, as I suggested before, or take multivitamin...

All the best!!
