To GI PA Have you seen clots after using Epo?

Hi, I am new . Just found this great site last week. By the way, hope you had a great vacation!  I am acting as my brothers S.O. He is 42, a construction worker. HCV dx 3yrs ago. On and off tx due to low HGB. Started on Peg-Intron and Rebetron about 6 weeks ago. Around week 2 his Hgb started to decline, Started on 20,000u of  Epogen weekly.( This is the first time he has ever been on Epo) His hgb still low, so on week 2 (of epo shots) the Epo was doubled to 40,000u weekly ( 2 shots of Epo at same time) and the third weekof Epo the same thing (40,000u) The same day of 3rd round of Epo he developed a pulmonary Emboli. Doppler also revealed 2 large clots in L leg. (same leg shots were given) No Hx of thrombus. The only risk factor he has is he tested (+) for the  Anti-phospholipid Antigen 3 yrs ago. I do not know the number on it. Have you seen any pts develope clots after epo shots? I have been doing research to find out if Epo could be a catalyst to the Antigen. As far as I can find there has been no research. But it would be interesting to hear if anyone else has had that problem. The doctors tell my brother they have no idea what happened. A second opinion is in the works. I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!!
