Thanks, I'm trying.  Tonight's gonna suck, isn't it?  Should I take the shot, then try to go to sleep?  Or should I take it early then try to go to sleep my normal time????

I like to do the shot just before bed and sleep through the sides.  I take 2 Tylenol and 1-2 Benedryl 1/2 hour to an hour before doing the shot.  DRINK TONS OF WATER : ) : ) The first shot can be unnerving.  You'll do great.  Are you doing Pegasys?  If so, I take it out of the fridge a 1/2 hour before the shot - doesn't feel so weird when it's at room temperature.  Most of all, relax and do something special for yourself as a reward...

My shot is in two vials and doesn't need to be refrigerated.  I used to give myself allergy shots, so I'm worried about GETTING the shot not GIVING it!!  LOL!  glug, glug, glug - sorry had to take a drink of water.  Hate to make light of this, but inside I'm really freaking !!!

okay hon, i have another training technique for you to try.  in order to establish YOUR alpha position with this dog, sometimes espeacially with dominante female larger breeds this can need to be done as maitanince every now and then....
okay...have her lay down on the floor, and you position your body...(resting on your knees)OVER HER...do this for a minute or two and make her remain UNDER YOU, all the time looking in her eyes...DO NOT BREAK EYE CONTACT WITH HER, UNTIL SHE FIRST LOOKS AWAY...ALWAYS....once you can have her do this AND EVEN EXPOSE her tummy...(Vulnerable area for any animal)by her rolling more on her back.....and remaining like that BENEATH YOU...for a moment or two....i mean at least ONE MINUTE...she will begin to get the message...BUT YOU MUST BE OVER HER WITH YOUR BODY.not nessisarily touching her, but having you above her.....SO SHE has to submit to you!!!!!
good luck....
p.s......invoice to follow.....ha ha

Freaking is my middle name.  The first shot is definitely the hardest.  What do they say...50% of the battle is just getting started?  After that, incorporate it into your daily activities.  As a friend of mine said, "just walkin the dog."
: ) : ) : ) : ) : )

There are lots of folks out here cheering for you!

I don't know what a riba rage card card is.  I'm REAL new.  I probably won't post this weekend - but IF I make it to work...I will let the whole world know!!  I think I can, I think I can, - positive thinking.... I will be here Monday and let you know.  I know I have a slight headache (in my temple) but other then that my first two pills went almost unnoticed. (three tonight and the "dreaded shot") yuk!
My doc won't give me a liver scan. Not sure why except he talks about the risk......He's only a gastro doctor, maybe that's why.

folks say to drink an oz per kiko of body weight. I weigh 190 and drink over 100oz each day, I am a real pisser! But I also have mild sides. I think that with out a doubt water, lots of it , is very important. I don't think you can drink too much.

Gpood luck, welcome to the group

Thanks for the party!!  I like my weather report much better. High in the sixties - low in the fifties - are you for real that it gets that cold?  Are you in Alaska???  I freeze at 40 above!!!

I'll be starting my party tonight between 7-8. I'd have a "shot" for everyone, but I think I'll be stingy and just have one for me this time!!  LOL!!!  Let you know how my "hangover" is....

Thanks everyone for the good wishes.  You guys are great!!

Good comment - definity was high in the 60's but that means I'd have carried this monster for 35 years...wow I hope not.  My son was born in '79 and they pumped me with 8 units of blood to keep me alive.......that would mean only 25 years.  Does that make a difference?

Earlier today I saw a comment from Chevy Gal, and she echoed my sentiments and situation pretty exactly . . . I'm newly diagnosed, 48, was probabnly exposed about 25 years ago, get an ultrasound Monday and see "the" doctor who will be managing my case on Wednesday, so I guess that's when I'll find out viral load and genotype etc., since I've had about four blood tests so far.

Right now the only things I know for sure are that I have Hep C and I'm scared to death!  I used to drink like a fish (quit that a few years ago but I figure the damage was done).  I feel pretty much okay except for the fatigue and pain (muscles, joints, URQ pain, headaches, blurry vision, urine smells strange, etc.)

Funny thing is - I've seen doctor after doctor after doctor for the last two years only to be told it was menopause or stress or all in my head, so that in one way it's a relief to finally find out there really is something wrong!

I bought a St. George slaying the dragon pin, prayed a lot, been educating myself, and so now I guess I'll soon start down that same road all of you brave sould have trod before me.  Good luck and Godspeed to everyone, and I'm sure you'll hear from me again soon!

If it were me, I'd take the shot when you get home.  It usually takes a few hours for any sides to kick in so hopefully that way you will sleep through any that may come your way.  My first shot was at 2:30pm and about 10:00pm that same night I got chills real bad.  Had read that someone took tylenol and they went away so I did the same.  It seemed to work.  Then I woke up with sweats on and off throughout the rest of the night and had some nausea the next morning.  That was one of my bad wks.  Most are good.
...Good luck tonight with the shot, whenever you decide to inject.  And here's to hoping you have no (or at least minimal) sides.  Just remember, if you do get sides, every week can be different so don't judge the tx and it's sx yet.

Sorry to hear you have HCV but welcome. Sounds like you have read some past post. That will give you a lot if information and fill you in many situations. Sometime there aren't too many around on weekends or Friday nights due to shots but hang around and you'll meet others here and get support when you need it. Seems like so many report feeling bad and having it all chocked up to menopause or something. Like you said at least you know now. Let's just hope your a geno 2 or 3, have low labs and your liver is in good shape.  See you around and once again welcome. LL

Wacky ~ my guess is that the stress is causing the headache and lack of concentration.  The first shot is a BIG stress.  I take 2 tylenol an hour before my 10PM shot (this should be cleared with your doc) and then snuggle up and watch TV.  I have had pretty mild sides (#34 tomorrow).  I actually look forward to shot night...means I can cross one more off on the calendar :)   Hope it goes well for you!  Water~water~water!

Kim ~ Oh Yeah.........what a great one!  Got me dancing in my computer chair. Phew, doesn't take much to poop me out!  Thanks!

St. Georgie-Girl ~ Sorry you have to join us, but we're glad to have you aboard!  You're at the "hurry up and wait" stage.  Very frustrating, but you will learn alot in the next weeks.  Testing and getting results takes time and waiting for doctor appts.  Learn all you can, and keep checking in with us!

How sweet of you to welcome me - you are right - I've been 'lurking' around for days now and reading the various posts and of course the tons of other stuff out there on the web.  In some ways all this reading has helped me to think and consider and hope, and in other ways it's almost too terrifying to keep reading, but I'm like a moth drawn to a candle falme because as you can see I keep coming back for more!!

"Layla" is my favorite song, and 'she' and I had some great times together  . . . I find it ironic and rather poetic that the first person who greeted me chose that for her name!  I'll take it as a good omen!!
