Great idea! Never thought of baby sunblock! But, now that I am back in the Pacific Northwest no problem. LOL. We do plan to be back down to calif end of march soi will tryit then. Thanks....
so glad u got away and relaxed..that's wonderful news. it is nice when we find we can still enjoy our lives. i understand the hgb, mine has tanked too and just bounced back so i totally get it. good job girl!
I live in central texas ourtside of austin...where r U?
if I go out in the sun for ten minutes I begin to burn, and I take Incivek, Peg/Copeg. Also, if you take any A/D's they also have a low tolerance for sun rays.
Your best bet, wear loose cotton long sleeves, wear baby sunblock, and and big hat.:)
best of luck on your new tx!
Try using the baby SC it usually is for sensitve skin and I believe some are fragrant free.
Whether treating or not, I've always used sunscreen to help to prevent sun damage to the skin. Even on very cloudy, overcast days in Florida you can get burned, so if I'm out working in the yard, cycling, etc., I lather up. Some sunscreens are waterproof which should help while swimming.
Although sunscreens might night reduce the sun's negative effects while on trt, it should help, If you limit the time exposed and watch your reaction carefully, you might do just fine. I'm often out for hours at a time, but if I'm also sweating, that's when the rashes will pop up for me.
I don.t know about sun block, I should have used it before heading out to the lounge chair on my vacation but I can.t stand smells right now. Any lotion with a scent nauseates me to no end! I did think about SB after the fact, there are some non scented ones but did not want to use it on hives! No biggy, shade was fine, nice to get away. Wow, Texas, warm. There are a lot of folks here from the south that will have good suggestions. I also felt the chlorinated pool didn't help either!
Good luck, try not to worry to much, getting ready to start tx is stressful.

sounded like a lot of fun, and thnaks for telling me about the sun, I moved to texas in march and we get a LOT of sun here, probably start meds in january so now I know I wont be able to use my pool :( or does sunblock keep the side effects from happening? how long do the side effects last after you are off them (with the sun) anyone know?
Good to know, it must not be a problem or your doctor would have been concerned.
Glad to hear you had a good time, the way tx has been treating people its good to hear some are still able to enjoy life........... Best to you.
I love connecting with old school friends!!! have a great time, be careful of the sun :(
I also think it was more about the icepacks that I had in the small cooler pak then the drugs. They wanted those out and displayed.
Can do man,........ I, also thought the xray machine would not be good for injections but nodody seemed to be concerned including doctor.
JasmineT....had it been a week earlier I would have been planted FACE DOWN. Just so happen, thank god, that my HGB came to 10 proir to leaving. I was considering cancelling the trip due to being lightheaded but figured I could be just as miserable here as there...
Also, when in FL I am going to connect with two high school friends I haven't seen in 38 years. How fun and positve is that? Priceless:)
good to hear that you got chance to get away. it really helps our body and soul to try to enjoy life away from our everyday lives. sorry about the sun. i found that one out the hard way. i live in so cal. we get lots of sun. good luck with your tx. keep us posted on how you're doing. best wishes. belle
Good to know I am going to FL this month. Can't wait to totally relax!
I can sure tell your feeling better, your talking about running soon! Good for you.. It's really amazing what a few points difference makes when dealing with hgb.
Mo
good for you mo!!!...i'm so glad you got that hgb under control....that sun is a killer on meds....i couldn't take it at all...had to wear a baseball cap most of the time...now i hope to be running a few miles in a month or so...good luck with everything....billy
You can ride?! I would be planted face down on the road if I tried. Lol, get way to dizzy. Good for you!
Sounds like a great getaway and good to hear you enjoyed. So you like the cruiser?? I'm still too stubborn to avoid the sun and often pay the consequences.
I always thought it wasn't safe to run the peg thru the x ray machine, maybe not.
No.................sun is not good on any level during treatment it burns the heck out of treaters! Sorry you found out the hard way and weren't aware of that fact but glad you got a nice vacation anyways!
