Hi John: Yes, I'm still treating. Today I started week 22 (of 24). My treatment ends on 4/9. I'll get VL tests at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 months post treatment. If my virus went into hiding (like it did in 2009) I'll know within a few weeks after stopping treatment, which is why I'm getting a 2-week post treatment VL test. If I forget to message you with an update, please message me or check frijole's chart. Best Wishes, GB
Wow - thats an encouraging number - are you still treating
please let me know how it goes
Sorry I do not have any information to back up the 80% number its just what my nurse said
Blessings
John
Hi Will: Point taken. Here is a source document supporting the assertion of a 99% cure rate if UND 6-months after treatment.
http://hepatitisdoctor.com/
Specifically, in the first paragraph, which discusses telaprevir, the document states, "If your HCV-RNA is undetectable 6 months after your last injection of interferon, you have a 99% chance of permanent cure." Cheers, GB
Your nurse told you.?
If you are going to relay facts and figures to the group ,it is always advisable to copy the data you are getting the information from,so as not to be just paaing on what someones opinion may be
best...

A couple of weeks ago, my nurse told me the latest data is indicating a 99% cure rate for people who are UND 6-months post treatment. I don't know how large their sample size is, but her comment was very encouraging.
Thanks for the information Will - The nurse told me I had about an 80 percent for SVR with these numbers - I really appreciate all of the infromative posts you have provided on this site,
Just to add to my last post...in those same trials RVR was still the most important success predictor irregardless of baseline VL.
Will
Yes,it would seem that amount of baseline VL is not near as much of a concern treating with one of the "protease inhibitors" as it once was tx. with only PEG/RIBA,however there is trial data that shows that with a higher viral load the SVR rates were somewhat higher with the extended treatment time( 48 vs.24wks.) ,but only slightly.
Good luck the rest of the way and congrats on the UND.
Will
Barmuckity: Congrats on UND at week 24 and thanks for the update!
You started with the highest viral load of anyone on frijole's spreadsheet. I started two spots behind you at 22M. Your success is motivational.
Was your treatment over at 24 weeks or are you on the 48 week treatment? Cheers, GB
