Treatment of Hepatitis C (genotype 1) on a kidney transplant patient

Dear Sir,
I am in dire straits of your advice as my wife has been detected HCV RNA +ve with the strain being genotype 1. In the year 1997 she was diganosed to be suffering from nephrotic syndrome. she had the proteinrea problem and she recieved peritoreal dialysis for two years from 1999 to 2001. she recieved a renal transplant on 26 June 2001 form a unrelated donor. After the transplant her proteinrea problem still persists. In the month of Feb 2003 she was detected with a high level of SGOT and SGPT counts around 250 each.she also conceived in the month of Jan 2003. On 1st of Apr 2003 the pregnancy was terminated. Her SGOT and SGPT enzyme counts has been alarmingly high and since last four weeks her Bilirubin (total) has come upto 3. Doctors here are advising to go for the therapy of Peginterferon. I would be grateful if u could help us at this hour of need.We are waiting for your valuable advise.
regards'
