Treatment of Hepatitis C

by Patti, Oct 19, 2000 12:00AM
Dear Doctor,
I am a 45 year old female with hepititis c (1a).  I was put on the interferon and rebitrol combination treatment.  I had a reaction to the shots, (injection site was red and had a knot under the skin), so my doctor took me off of the treatments.  As of now I am not being treated for my hepititis c at all.  I have chronic fatigue, I push myself just to make it through the day. I have had a liver biopsy that showed a level 2 scarring and the grade of my liver is a 2 also.
I was told that I need to get vaccinated against Hep A & B.  Do I need to be checked before I get them to see if I have Hep A or B, or is that not possible.  I just don't know what to do at this point.  I have a very active virus, my levels keep going up. Also have any new treatments come out yet.  Please let me hear from you.  Thank you Patti
