Trigger finger

Does anyone have trigger finger? I have it in the right thumb. I don't know if it is related to my hepatitis C. What did you do to help it? I'm 64 years old and hypothyroid.

How far back in the archives are you talkin? Do you mean pain(more recent) or bruising--I've never really had an injection site reaction afterwards such as redness or swelling. Just bruising about 50%??

On the injection pain...
No- No luck on figuring anything out. I made sure to let my alcohol swab thingie dry completely and then tried to jab with right hand on left side and had pain. I did everything right (needle bevel up etc.) so it must've been the angle. Since my belly curves I'm probably not compensating for that. I need to figure this out though because the left sied is 50% of my useable injection sites -I don't use my thieghs.
I finally went in on the left with left hand --REAL AWKWARD but hey I got it in. And I'm not going to worry about it.
I've got enough problems with hair falling out and scalp rash and real itchy riba rash which I can't seem to leave alone.

OH back to injection---BTW someone wise here said, and it stuck. "NO pain/NO SX" and so when it hurts I pull it out and find another place untill I find a pain free site. Kinda like accams razor--"all things being equal-the simplest solution is usually the right one"

Are you diabetic?  My brother has had two trigger fingers and was told it's a complication of his diabetes.  Since hcv can bring on diabetes, you might want to check that out.  And don't check it with a fasting blood sugar.  You can have high blood sugars after meals for years before your fasting reading indicates any problem.  Best to eat a carb laden meal and then test.

Thanks for your comments. It's been frustrating having this thumb problem as I have been doing reflexology part time for 11 years. If it is just a temporary problem I don't want it cut then never be able to do reflexology on clients or family  again.

Yes, I heard diabetics get it a lot. In fact, that was the only place it came up while doing a search. I will keep that in mind. However, the doctor said I'm not diabetic.

Gramma, I wondered the same here recently before treatment I was having major tendon problems that hurt so bad I resorted to getting a brace for my hand, was checked out for carpal but no and no damage, they said that it was just irritated.  I'm sure there could be a number of things that could cause it But with hep C I tend to ask if everything is another symptom. I would check it out with doc though.

Way - on a side note, I just was brousing the archives and I was wondering about the probs you had with injection sites Mine hurt like the dickens tonite and while this is only shot 3 the first 2 I didn't even feel.  1 in thigh 1 in abdomen and then tonight in other thigh.  Did you ever figure out why that was hurting? and what did you do to make it not hurt?

Yes I have it in my right pinky finger. It might be related...I thought it was REALLY weird when it happened because all I was doing was using a staple gun-repeatedly for about an hour. It seemed like my tendon just literally "FLEW OFF".

I was thinking that Hcv can weaken and attack certain tissues. Since I have been TX ALL my joint problems seem to have resolved.
