Tuna Fishing

It looks like a slow posting day so I would like to ask a strange question. I an 52 and a 1b on 21/48 and clear at 16 weeks the rash I have turned out to be psoriasis brought on by low wbc I am getting a handle on it now. I have lost 30 pounds so far and a lot of muscle. I get winded fast and have little engery and I don't know how strong I will be in Aug. Every year I have a fishing trip out of San Diego. This year its a 4 day trip the last of August for Albcore 20-30#s and maybe a bluefin or 2. I have paid 1/2 and the other half is due in May. I know everybody takes TX different but I hate to miss the trip but it would be a expensive boat ride. I have not told my fishing buddy about Hep C yet but will have to when I have a Alb kick my ass. My qustion is is their anybody that ocean fishes out their that has been in this situation before?

how is your hgb?  if it is under 13, even though still :"normal" it can bring about fatigue, shortness of breath and aches. if it is low try to get the dr to bring it up, that will give you more energy.  I took a one week trip to New Orleans for Mardi gras, 8 months into tx, I managed to have a lot of fun, just needed a nap here and there, try to build up your stamina; some walking, small wt lifting, keep the muscles going somehow.

Snook is the fishy person on the board, maybe he will be around later.

I went fishing all the time on treatment. The longest trip I took was three days; I managed, better than sitting home. As long as your hemoglobin

I went on vacation on tx and it was very tiring some days. I would not go on a sight seeing vacation but a relaxed one would be good. Be very careful of the sun. You will be much more sensative to it on tx. It is a sx of tx. We have a sailboat and I had to be very careful to always have a way to get out of the sun or be covered. Normally I can be in the sun all day long with no problems but not while on tx. Bluefin was the special at the sushi bar we were at today. haha. LL

Procrit is the blood booster used for low hgb, unfortunately most drs wait until you are below 10 to intervene. I complained of chest pains at 10.2 and they prescribed it at that time. anemia can trigger heart events, so they played it safe with me.
the going is slow while anemic, but you can't stop moving those muscles, they must be dragged even when aching.
I hope you can come up with a happy solution for your predicament

i would say make sure you're able to rest when you need it...sit somewhere take a break...my first vacation was exhausting and horrible cause i planned too many things and i couldn't keep up...also i was visiting my parents and they expected me to keep up...they know i'm on tx too...they think it's like other medicine i guess...they actually got a little upset that i would sleep in and take my time at things...i know they didn't understand and expected me to be like normal...

soooo...i hope your "good buddy" is really a good buddy
skipper! :)

if this mega fishing is exhausting then really make sure that you have built up phisically to the demand by hittin the health club...

i went snorkleing and almost drowned because i exhausted myself in the agwa trying to put on a flipper that was falling off...jeezee...and snorkling is mellow!...course i did swim back to the boat pretty fast after seeing a shark cruising the bottom! no kidding!

i did need lots of sunscreen but got burnt anyway...i wonder what would have happened with no sunscreen?

My meds have made my face very sensitive to the sun, real sensitive. Previous screens failed after 20 minutes - my face would be toasted cuz the meds changed the behavior of my skin cells. By testing different brands, I finally found one, spf45, that could standup to salt water, sweat, was greaseless, and lasted 4-6 hours. I'm an avid sailboat racer and also a deep water fisherman, with so many products on the market I knew I would find one that work. It just takes a little trial and error. Nothing like hooking up to a big-eye!

LOL! omg! I can't stop laughing at the visual of you paddling, sans one flipper, to get away from jaws! I know it must have been scary to almost drown, but you must thank the shark for the adrenaline boost that helped you make it to the boat.
