UND at my first PCR post TX :-)

UND at my first PCR post TX :-)

Hola everyone
I feel soo well today!!!!!!!!!.
My first PCR after 5 weeks postTX is UND 40yo, overweight, fatty liver and 2 million VL.
He said I could take pentoxifillin but he's sure that I would get the same results with exercise and a good liver diet. The Trental thing is not the panacea for NASH he says. I had several negative predictors but I was RVR at week 2. The doc says he's sure I'm "cured". I'm taking it with a grain of salt and gonna wait for my next PCR.
Souvenirs from tx: hipothyroid, a dull pain on URQ, and blurry vision in my right eye. I guess that comes with the job...

Luv you all.

Avatar_n_tn
Are u genotype 2 also?
Remember you have to treat the glucose b4 plungin into tx.
Is that glucose thing the same as insuline resistance?

Great news, man! Outstanding result. Being UND at 5 weeks post means your better than 94% likely to achieve SVR. The odds are rolling in your favor every week now. Not sure when you are planning your next PCR, but 12 & 24 weeks post-tx are the big milestones.

Dr Schiff was quoted saying, "UND at 12 weeks post-tx = CURED'

Congratulations! A negative  four-week post tx PCR correlates around 90% with SVR and I'm sure you've got it. BTW recent studies suggest that an UND 12 week PCR correlates 100% with SVR, as long as you do not have cirrhosis. I wouldn't start taking any new drugs for your 'fatty liver' unless at least two experts in the field urge you to. As stated, exercise and diet are what is often recommended. What is your cholesterol? You want that LDL at 100 or below, or even below 70 if you have significant coronary risk factors. You may need statins to get there but personally I wouldn't start them until 12 weeks post treatment although my doctors didn't have any problems with me using them earlier.

All the best,

-- Jim

That's fantastic news, congrats on your first post tx UND! Although like you I'd take it with a grain of salt if your doctor is already declaring you "cured" with only a 5 week post tx UND under your belt. The odds are building in your favor, and you're definitely well over the 50% likelihood of SVR right now - but as you probably know unfortunately it's too early to tell if the treatment has been curative (or "SVR-itive") yet. I've got a 6 week post tx UND so far, and although feeling more confident, I'm still sweating bullets until I have my 12 week post tx results in my hands. If I manage to remain UND at 12 weeks post, only then will I start to strut with that same John Waynesque SVR gunslinger swagger I've enviously coveted in others.

Anyway, here's a 6 shooter for you too, pilgrim. ;-)

Congratulations, guys!  Having just received UND on my 3 months post PCR, (which for some reason Kaiser performs NOT 3 months after stopping but rather 3 months after the last one, which was 1 month after stopping), I just know you'll be SVR.  Remember, the statistics are skewed by folks who eat kaka and get wasted and in general do not take care of themselves.  We don't live that way, so the odds are extremely high for all of us.  Most relapses occur in the first 4 weeks.

Here's to good health,
pigeon

Thanks for everything guys!! I luv yous very mucho
I'm going friday for my official 12 wk PCR and maybe throw a little Fibroscan into the mix ;-)  I'm gonna do so much exercise I'm gonna look like Arnold b4 steroids.
Jim I don't know my LDL right now (the doc gave me the results over the phone) but my LDH was 173 u/l and cholesterol was 175 mg/dl six weeks ago. I guess I won't get to where you said without statins...
And maybe try the pentoxiffilin 1200mg per day to see what goes on the good old parenchima (and have bloodwork done every month with my PCP) I've consulted her so many times with documentation  downloaded form you gusy she's starting to get interested in my nutcase... ;-)
saludos a todos
