Hope you're doing well otherwise Pam.  In another week... By the way, I've read here a number of times that WBC (or at least ANC's) increase in the presence of an infections.  This too will pass, hang in there!

got them before tx, but mostly during tx.  Many rounds of macrobid and other antibiotics.  Not sure what role the meds play, but sexual intercourse or any sexual activity around the urethra increases them more.  A consult with a urologist or urogynecologist (if female) might come in handy (no pun).
feel better.

Sorry to heat about your UTIs. Its an added discomfort you certainly don't need...agree with Cuteus about the bacteria and all but also just a side note, have your doctor check your insulin levels which can also be affected and can cause UTI's....btw its whoaisme, not giddyup writing.

you poor thing! the pain is horrible and they want you to dring fluids which you know will make you go...just horrible!  My urologist decided to give me an open Rx for macrobid, after culturing and making sure the bacteria was sensitive to it, and instructed me to self medicate if I felt the first sign of infection.  That kept many aUTI from developing. He gave me refills for 6 months. WHen another culture revealed a different bacteria, he had to switch to proper antibiotic. The uristat, helps with the pain. eventually I got a pill that turned the pee green instead of orange, a stronger pain killer.  See if the dr will work with you and trust you to medicate yourself at the first sign, rather than waiting for it to develop.  I continued to have them post tx for many months (sex related) and finally, over a yr later, it seems to have stopped recurring.  If menopausal, that can add to the problem also. that is why the urogynecologist can address related issues.  feel better soon! did they give you pain meds?
