Undetectable at 12 Weeks and a question about Lexipro

by DonL, Jan 08, 2004 12:00AM
Just got my 12 week test results. Undetectable. I believe they did the PCR Quant test. Only another 36 weeks to go...

I do have a question about Lexipro. We are discussing whether or not I should start on it for the usual tx depression. My wife is adamant, bless her heart, that I avoid any AD with sexual side effects (of the depressant kind, I am hoping). Does anyone know about Lexipro and other ADs. The lexipro site only mentions "problems with ejactulation" which could be a problem.

I found Lexipro to be very sedating.  caruu

I tried Lexipro and really did not like it. It made me VERY tired and did cause sex problems. The tiredness was real, the sex problems could have been due to the fact that I read it caused sex problems. Anyway, I stopped taking it and switched to Paxil, it works well for me

Congrats on your 12 week test!
Hang in there.
Prozac works well for me.

I had a bout with depression and believe I have some chronic mild residue.  I decided against any ADs, unless I became severe symptomatic.  After 6 months, nothing that did not subside on its own has happened.  Zoloft definetely causes libido changes. It depressed mine, but my friend claims it increased hers.  Go figure.

I take 10mg daily and find it does help with my depression.
I think my wife has been enjoying it too, due to the fact that it takes longer to get the "job done" for me. I wasn't a extremely quick "worker" before or anything, but now - look out!

Thanks for the feedback. Decisions, decisions, not always easy right around now.

Ringading, we all know you are a psychotic, badger-shooting, crazy woman who lives out in the woods somewhere hopefully not too close to us. Stop trying to hide it.

Hmmm, how to put this nicely?

On lexapro, I could not even enjoy my "own company" yet alone my husband.

Is all this a karmic payback for my wild youth?

I'm not sure if Lexapro has no sexual side effects but Wellbutrin is known for not causing them.  Although, if you have a tendancy towards seizures I don't think it's recommended.  If Lexapro doesn't work for you, you can always switch over (carefully and with doctor's supervision) to Wellbutrin.

You might also want to ask XMadDog in the post below yours what he takes considering he's looking for a date....

It's an honor to think that I may have helped you even a little. You certainly have a good sized portion on your plate and yet you are dealing with it with grace and honesty. I admire you for your strength and compassion. I always say that people pretty much all do the same thing - we do what we need to. But some do it gracefully and through their struggle we gain perspective and conviction and maybe a little portion of the divine. I think of you often and pray that you do well. Thank you for the kind words. Be well. Mike

I have not been able to achieve an orgasm since starting Lexapro.  My doctor tells me this is temporary.  Doesn't much matter anyway as the Pegintron has killed my sex drive(Ha,Ha)!!  If it weren't for the Lexapro keeping me happy I might be depressed about that.

Audreywald, I loved your response.  I know exactly what you are talking about!
