Urging anyone starting treatment to add nitazoxanide (Alinia)..

I feel it is my duty to the board to pass along what finally worked for me since I recently had my 1 year SVR annivesary. I previously had treated 3 times to no avail and then decided to get serious with my "shock and awe" campaign against the virus.  The assault on the virus encompassed everyday infergen (double dose first 4 weeks) coupled with high dose riba and finally the real killer nitazoxanide (alinia).  I must also stress  follow up care to maintain immune strengh  when treatment is finished please look into using AHCC (medicinal mushroom extract) which has many scientific studies behind it showing it increases Killer cells and natural interferon production and also use lactoferrin.  That is my two cents I hope i can even only help one person out there conquer this foe.

Dragon Slayer -
I bow to you.  How many ways are there to skin a dragon?  The regular way didn't work for me and the head cheese doc at Inova said I was resistant as a result and to come back in a year.  Meanwhile the sleeping sickness and apathy/lethargy has returned.  I almost died a couple times during the first treatment because of anemia - don't think I could handle the ordeal again without rescue drugs.  What might you or anyone suggest?

I did not have a lead in period with the Alinia.  I was type 1A.  Started this 4th and final treatmentwith a lead in with AHCC, lactoferroin and a product called Moducare which are all incredible immune boosters.  These natural substance were able to lower the viral level to around 500,000 copies down from  muli millions and I know this in turn allowed the medications an easier time at making quick work of the virus in that crucial first month .  My advice to all reading this is to get your viral load as low as possible before starting treatment by means of natural immune boosters and diet so as the meds don't need to work as hard at accomplishing their duty.  Also,  I doubled up on the interferon the first month until the viral load was 0.  This is also crucial but the real silver bullet was the addition of the Alinia which I believe in the very near future will be the gold standard of treatment even possibley as or if not more effective than teleprevir.  The beauty of Alinia is that it is available to all those  who choose to incorporate it into the SOC currently available.

I have been taking about 2 grams of AHCC daily, 1500 mg's lactoferrin and also copious amounts of vit.c which in turn produces glutathion in the body which is the chief antioxidant the liver uses to cleanse itself.

I am taking those as well as Proboost and Nutriferon.

Heyeorge, great to see you again....glad to hear the Infergen works for you.
They offered it to me, but the stats were so low I figured why beat my dead horse.
Of course, if you end up in the 30-40% that succeed, then you are indeed blessed.
Those odds just seemed out of reach for me after nearly 2 years of the peg at 50% didn't work.

Can you please provide additional information such as genotype, grade/stage, viral load, coexisting medical problems, side effects,  treatment regimen with Alinia (Lead-in?) and anything else you might consider relevant?

I am considering another attempt at Tx and adding Alinia to the mix.

Rumor is it can be purchased legally or illegally I don't know through a site called medsmex.com (generic name is nitazoxinide ) or have another doc call the makers of Alinia and request free samples which is what I did.

That's such great news my friend - after all you have been through you certainly deserved this SVR, you EARNED it the hard way that is for sure!

You are the second person in a few months that I know who finally succeeded with Infergen every day and I just dont know how either of you managed - regular old Interferon was hard enough for me!!!
