Vaccination

Hello again everyone.  My question is can you still get vaccinated for hep A if you are on treatment?  I realize we don't have doctors here but wondering if anyone might have ran into that problem.  I have been so busy I forgot to go get the vaccination.  I'm gonna ask the doc when I go in for the first shot just to make sure.  I'm already vaccinated for hep b not that that matters for the question I have asked.  Has anyone went to get thier vaccination after they have started?  Just wondering if the drugs will null the hep A vaccine. I start treatment thursday and won't have time to go before then because I am going out of town in the morning for 2 days.  I will let you all know how it goes.

Thanks in advance and I hope everyone is doing well.  Look forward to talking to all of you as I start the poison.

Yup we are all advised to get the series of hepA and B shot. No problem.

I started the A and B series before tx started and had the follow-ons during tx, seemingly without negative effects.

Most docs will insist on up to date and effective protection against both A and B.  Even thogh you've been B'd need to check to make sure you still have the antibodies.  Many people get re-dos if not.

We keep an eye on their IM'ing and buddy lists - drives them crazy but there's a lot of stuff to avoid out there.  I set some 'parental controls' which limits where they go online and have some password protection restrictions built in.  Require the kids to swim, they think it's for exercise purposes.  But really because it exhausts them and there's no safer place for a kid than asleep in their own beds.

Beach was great, thanks for asking.  Also got in some golf on a nearly empty course.  Good luck on the bx.  You've read here that it's not as daunting as it sounds. But, no matter how much people say it's no big deal we're all on edge going into it. The A&B (I think both) are a series of 3 at months 0, 1 and 6 and my doc sure stayed on my case about getting them promptly. From my view, shellfish is safe as long as it's prepared properly.  The guide is to stay away from uncooked.  Seems like a lot of people have shellfish allergies. Our kids have finished camp and are now back and almost bored again.  It's tough keeping kids occupied in the summer.  They have required reading (school and my requirements) and I have linked the amout of their daily reading to the amount of time on the internet.  So far, so good.

I'm glad you had a nice trip.  Thanks for the tip on shellfish.

It is hard keeping kids busy during the summer.  I can see why year round school is a big hit.  We are in a new neighborhood this summer and it has a pool.  It has been great because they have a swim team.  My daughter has practice twice a day.  Every Tuesday they do a special activity.

The reading is important. You just gave me an idea to have a once a week library trip.  A book club for her wouldn't be a bad idea either.

It is hard to keep kids off the computer, too.  Do your kids like to get on IM?  My daughter does.  She wants a "MySpace", but I won't allow it.

Hey FlGuy,

How was your trip to the beach?  I hope it was nice.

They finally scheduled my biopsy.  It's on the 24th of July.  It's all falling in to place pefectly.  My daughter will be at camp that week (I still haven't told her).  Then the week after, we are going to the beach, so I hope to start treatment at the end of August like I originally had wanted.

I got my Hep A and B vaccine last week.  I didn't know it was a series of shots.  Now that I am vaccinated against the both, do you know if it's safe to eat shellfish?
