Vertex To Announce Phase III Results

Just got a call from my Gastro who just got off the phone with Vertex.

He was told they are going to announce the results of Phase III clinical trials of Telaprivir in Copenhagen the third week of this month. This may or may not accelerate the FDA's approval for earlier than late 2010 or 2011 release.

An update to my quest for getting the “compassionate use" for Telaprivir.

Although the doctor again was told today by Vertex that they have no such plan in the works, he did try to call my contact at the FDA to clarify this. The FDA called me three times and reassured me that when they get the forms filled by my doctor, they will look into what they call their "Single Patient Emergency IND". This may be their argument with Vertex for the release of the "compassionate use". Stay tuned...

The contact also assured that she will help the doctor fill out the confusing forms I posted about (3 total). So there it is. I’m still trying hard...

I was thinking of going to the liver meeting here in CPH, but the registration fee is way to expensive... dang... I'll try harass my doc to tell me all about it.... ;-)
