Vertex clinical trial contact

Vertex Clinical Trials hotline = 617-444-6777

I plan to see if there's any trials going on in Nevada. I thought perhaps you may also see if they will accept you in a clinical trial in your state. You must have gone through one failed treatment (I believe but am not sure).

Protease, needed for HVC replication can be negated by VX-950. The trials so far prove to be tremendously effective and with not near as torturous and obtrusive side effects.

In 2008, Vertex will ask the Feds for approval for worldwide distribution. They not only plan to make a profit, but the Cambridge group plans to change humanity and one of its maladies which we all here share.

As for my recovery from the near death megadose of Infergen, I will post soon. I can say that I am recovering. The most lingering effect so far is the stomach Reflux and relapse of nausea. More later... Good luck... Good health...

The current trials for vertex include only a small number of subjects and I think they are all geno 1 who have not treated before.  In the Europe trials some patients are going with ifn and vrtx, but most also include riba.  For the US groups, all trial arms include riba. If you are in Europe, that may be a better angle to attack from.  If in North America stay tuned to vrtx's website and clinicaltrials.gov.  The vrtx site is farily up to date with current plans and trials in progress.

guys a couple of questions:

1. vertex will still have to be taken with peginterferon and ribavarin, right?

2. can someone who's not a US national, fly to the US to get vertex treatment, before 2008?

About VX-950

VX-950 is an investigational oral inhibitor of hepatitis C virus protease, an enzyme essential for viral replication, and is one of the most advanced investigational agents that specifically targets HCV. In clinical studies to date, researchers have observed rapid and dramatic antiviral activity with VX-950. In clinical studies of VX-950 to date, no patients have discontinued treatment and no serious adverse events have been reported.

In May 2006, Vertex announced the details of a global Phase 2 program for VX-950 consisting of three large clinical studies that are expected to enroll approximately 1000 patients with HCV at clinical centers in the United States and Europe. Vertex initiated the U.S.-based PROVE 1 study in May. The PROVE 2 study is being initiated in Europe.

Above is more info on VX-950 update. As to your question of how much Interferon I was taking. I was taking Infergen at 24mcg daily (normal dose is 15mcg - three times per week) with 1200mg of Ribavirin daily.

After three months, my ALT and AST shot up from the 80's into the 700's. My Billirubin was off the chart. My urine was chocolate colored and I was in bed for three months, over 20 hrs. per day, sometimes several days at a time without getting up.

Naturally, my doctor was very determined to finally erradicate this, but did keep a close eye on my progress and when the alarming results were in from the bloodwork, he stopped treatment immediately. If I would have continued the dosage, I would not be writing this now. I would be in a coffin.

i for one do not believe that scientists and drug co's are in it for ONLY the cash but do have higher motives. this will be a real blessing for the 170 mil people who are inflicted.
