Viral Breakthrough

Now that triple tx has been underway for a while, has anybody heard of any viral breakthrough issues? That happend to me my first tx. Just wondering. Its a real bummer to have that after being und, and doing tx for months just to find out it failed while you were going through all the sides for nothing.

Just did my 20th dart. I will have my 24th week VL done right after XMAS. I'm a previous non responder, VL at 4 weeks 1 million. I'm on VIC, 12 wks undected. I wasn't even thinking of break thur. Has anyone finished? My doc has 14 of us, and only 1 nonresponder, all of us on vic.

Yes I got the plocebo the first time and then did the rollover. I also got the rash real bad si if I had not broke thru I would have been pulled due to the rash, A top liverman in Boston told me to wait till Bocep was approved and to do that so that is what I am doing. I go to a clinic that all they deal with is HVC and HIV so I think I am in good hands.

These post give me much encouragement to push through the on-going peg/riba so thank you. I'll get a new RNA read before Thanksgiving and if still und my mental outlook will be excellent.

It is truly a blessing to think this HCV could be und after completion of this third treatment. My status of disease place me has a hard case to cure: geno 1a, il28 tt, stage iv liver, twice non-responder to treatment.

rocky, if you were on a trial are  you 100% sure you actually got the Tela?  I find it unusual that a doc would treat you with another PI.

Slideman &somuchmore :

The odds of breakthrough on the P.I"s  seems rare and as hrsep  mentioned there was the one member and I believe l possibly one other(howeverI may be mistaken on that)

In the Tela (advance trial) for naives
Jasmine correctly stated that 7 %  either had to stop because of the futility rule(ie not being <1000at week 4 or week12,or still having virus at week 24 ) or having a breathrough at some point during tx. I don"t believe there was a breakdown of the two

In the Tela (realize ) trial  for prev. tx. experinced

1% of prev. relapsers
15% or prev. partials
and 50% of prev. nulls

had  to either stop because of futility rule  or breakthough....again I don't think there was a breakdown..

Again ..seems like breakthroughs are uncommon

Do you remember the member cctex, I believe she had a breakthough, but she stopped posting shortly after reporting it, that is the only breakthough of people on tri tx that I can remember since I have been this site.

No stats to share.  Did ask this question of my doc last week.  She said that the only patients she has so far on triple that have had a breakthrough so far were not taking their meds.  She gave an example of one that had started treatment, knowing she had already booked a cruise for 3 months in, then stopped taking her pills for a few days to pack and enjoy the cruise.  I don't think she has anyone that finished completely yet.

Would be interesting to know if others have more details.  I believe the stats I have seen show about 7% for my geno and my status/response but it varies.

I will bump you up here on this post,  I have not heard of anyone on this forum having a breakthrough yet,  but if you look at INC/Vitrelis study data the breakthrough % are in there I believe.
