Warfarin Study & Fibrosis

Mike H thought it would be a good idea for me to post this link to the Warfarin study. I've been on it since Aortic Valve replacement in 1993..........I did not know I had Hep C until 2002, so all those years, I drank like a Sailor, and even after I found out, I continued to imbibe, I just cut way back. As Mike said, this is a very interesting study.

It could be that my Warfarin usage has protected me all these years.

Not everyone who has HCV gets much damage. I was an alcoholic for 30 years with HCV and I barely have any damage at all.

Seems odd that rat poison would protect your organs. Stranger things have happened though.

Oh no, no, no, hep c is from a virus found in the blood, you would have to come in contact with contaminated blood, transfusion, shared needles, dentist, snorting cocaine w/ infected person.  Hep C was not even discovered until 89 ( I think) so, much blood up to that time could pass for clean and infect others. gama globulin shots. etc. blood to blood.

Steve,
Thanks a million for posting this link for others. Just had a friend undergo a liver & kidney transplant last week and I'm going to share this link & information with her Surgeon. Any more information you know about would be greatly appreciated. Do most patients that develop cirrhosis of the liver due to drinking, end up getting Hep C? If so, can you explain why?

Thanks
Ginbud
