Water Frustration

Water Frustration

At 22 weeks into triple tx, I am having trouble forcing water.  Any suggestions/alternatives??  Sometimes it's a matter of combatting the metallic taste of the VIC.  Other times, as much as I like water, I think I am bored with the every day routine.

Try floating a mint leaf in it of add a drop of flavored oil or sliced lemon or lime.
Don't stop downing those fluids, you need them.

Get some sugary (or not so sugary) fruit drink and mix it in.  I'm not a big sweet drink fan, but I'll get a bunch of different Gatorade G2 (cherry, grape, watermelon).  It's already low sugar.  I have my huge 32oz water cup and when I get bored of water I'll throw maybe 2-4 oz of Gatorade in with my 30oz of water.  Try it with lemonade or whatever juice.  Don't worry about the sugar content.  You won'
t be mixing that much in.

I can't drink water due to nausea, so I drink diet ginger ale. Docs say as long as I drink the correct amount it's ok. I only like Canada Dry. I find I have a lot of food/drink issues on this tx. One day I can eat something and it's fine the next time I eat it I can't stand the taste or the texture fun fun fun LOL!

We have the pur flavor options filter where you can add lemon, strawberry or raspberry flavor to your drink according to the tastes of whoever wants a glass. I like it but unfortunately our water in town hasn't been up to standard so I'm back on boring bottles too. I feel your pain. The mint leaf sounds nice OH...it would also make a good marker as you don't want to pick up someone elses cold while on treatment.

OH -- Wow!  Thank you!  LOVE the idea of the mint and I will try that.  I'll try the lemon too.

Adam -- Sugar is my Achilles' heel.  I do like the suggestion of adding a little Gatorade though.  I'll try that too.  Thanks :)

Rocky -- I hear ya.  I am salt sensitive but am finding some foods ultra salty these days.  Too off tasting to even eat.  ***** about the nausea with water.

Lee -- So true about the mint leaf being a good marker!  Welcome to the forum.  Flavored water, I'm super picky but I can give it a try.  Thanks :)

Gosh,   Daja Vu, to the 10th power !    Life water is great and goes down nicely, I love the dragonfruit.   Gatorade is good, but watch your sodium and potassium levels.      Doctor told me to take my water and mix a little lemon juice and add just a little sugar to it.     Makes it lots better.    Something else, I have tried because everything I drink and eat just sets in my upper stomach waiting to go somewhere like out the up spout, is I started taking Zopram.   Works like magic :)         Keep drinking!      xoxoxo

Unfortunately you gotta drink at least a gallon a day.  It's supposed to be plain water but I gotta be honest here, how much different is water than KoolAid.  Not much.  If you haven't done it yet, I suggest you fall in love with KoolAid.  Live up to your name beeblessed!!  good luck

also caffine free green ice tea is another way all it is, is flavored water and it's good for you. Popsicles and Italian ice is good to. I have had a real bad sugar adversion for awhile still can't stand anything too sweet and I've always had a sweet tooth.

Bee, I have been having the same problem and have ended up deydrated, I think.  I only like water and some iced tea.  None of the other things mentioned here appeal to me so I have been having to just force water down.  It all seems to be a habit and I got in the habit of not drinking and now I need to correct that.

When I finally got back on the procrit Wednesday night I woke up several times with a dry mouth and in the morning I had to drink two or three big glasses of water.  I am hoping that it was the call of my old bone marrow making lots of new red blood cellls!

All I know is we need it and we better do it.
