Week 16 - Recap from Blood Work

Had Shot #16 yesterday; I'm a 2b with 24 week therapy; been going every 2 weeks for blood work as WBC and RBC low and I refused Neupogen.  on 4/30/07 WBC showed 1.8, with neutrophils at 545 - on 5/15 WBC showed 2.0 with neutrophils at 790.   Red blood cells had shown 3.64 and now are 3.55; Hemo was 11.6, now 11.5 (explains being out of breath I assume).  Platelets were 110, now 108.  My doc mentioned something about new guidelines for prescribing Procrit, and my results were stable enough to NOT have it.  Doctor says  I can go back to blood work once a month.  

Message to JmJm --  I want to thank you as you posted to me 6 or more weeks back an article on neutropenia, and when neupogen should be prescribed, how low ANC levels could be Etc.   That article was instrumental in my deciding NOT to use neupogen at the moment (thus necessitating blood work every 2 wks), but now have rebounded levels up to 790.

As always, this forum has been a wealth of information and education in this disease.    Thank YOU ALL.

You are very lucky. My WBC was 1.2 with an ANC of 600. The next week my WBC was .2 and I had 9 neutrophils. It took a while but neupogen saved my life.

I live in SW Florida....if you are familiar with area, it is "Sarasota"; once a fairly small town.  Now, quite large and getting a little bit too rich for my blood.   All the best to you!!
