Well, I finally got the hives to slow down and open thread

Last time I checked in with you guys, I was an itching mess. Now post-tx by about 3 months, I have finally got it slowed down to once every 3-5 days. It has been a trip. Went to the dermotolist and he said that he had no idea what was causing it and told me I would just have to "get farther away in time from the tx". Well I guess that was true cause now I am doing a lot better. Tx does some crazy things to your system.
All I can say is that I am thankful that part of the tx is over.
Thanks for all the support and prayers.
And remember that Benedryl and Aloe w/Lidocaine can ease the symptoms, there is no cure like a little time.
Best wishes and to all a SVR at the end
Thanks again
Bodie

18 months post tx and still neg.
I tried everything for my skin. The best I got was from melted vaseline rubbed into wet skin right out of the shower. As the day progresses, wet the bad spots down and rub more vaseline in.

Thanks so much for the advice. I will try the Aloe, that's one I haven't tried. I do the benadryl but it seems to dry me out so much. I guess pick your poison, huh? Todaym my mouth seems to be breaking out. It's always something! I've done 11 weeks now and just got to do 24 total. I'm one of the lucky ones. I feel bad even complainiing considering what some people have to go through and for how long. Thanks again.

I know how you much feel. I tried staying out of the sun and sun blockers. Sounds like you have an immune problem, i.e. the body is attack itself. When I felt like the march of the fire ants was upon me, I would get out the Aloe gel w/Lidocaine and it sure is a blessing. It's the stuff they have for sunburn. Then I would take 3 Benedryl. It would make the spots go down and not itch so bad. I went through every drug they could think of and still no cure. Then the Doc told me that I would just have to wait to  get farther away from the tx. How long were on Tx? I was on it off and on from Oct. '02 till July of '04. I was on steady for 48 weeks on 1/2 dose of Pegasys and only 3 pills a day. That made a big difference in my sidess. When I first doing Tx, they had me on full doses. That lasted for 6 weeks. My body is real sensitive to that stuff. My itching started a couple of weeks post-Tx. Big whelps the size of your eyeball would come up and then I would pput the Aloe on then and take 3 Benedryls. That would get me to where it was tollerable. Aveenno didn't have aany effect on it. Bathing every day wasn't helpful either. Just dried the skin out more, I stuck to a bath every other day. Try Oil of Olay soap for sennsitve skin. Try switching another detergent. I find All Free and Clear a good choice.
I wish you the best of luck. I drove myself crazy trying to figure out what caused it and I finally gave up and just started treatimg the symptoms. You will probably won't find out till later what caused it. Just be sure to take a cold bath, not a shower. Showers tend to make it worse.
Best of luck to  you! I know you are about ready to run thru a wall, have patience. This too will pass! Give me a holler if you need anymore help. My addy is ***@****.
Again, Good luck ann God Bless

My first NP prescribed --  Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate Cream, USP,,,,which really worked well for me,,,Now my current NP wants me to take oatmeal baths  ( YUK )
I will be asking my FP for a script of the former,,,,if it works, don't fix it.

I would also recommend drinking and topical use of Colloidal
Silver,,,GH3

glad to hear you're improving -- generic otc claritin works almost as well as benadryl without making people drowsy and foggy -- it's taken just once a day as well....costs a bit more but well worth it....i found i could tolerate benadryl only at night and thus switched to claritin....it has decidedly fewer effects on the brain & CNS.   some people don't notice side effects from benadryl or else develop a tolerance to them (or even like *them* for their sleep-promoting qualities), so it's best to try both to see how you respond.   take care,
