What Time of Night Does Everyone Take Their Shot?

I am curious as to what other's find to be the best time to take your shot.  This will be my 2nd shot and the first one on my own.  Last week, I did it with a nurse at Mt. Auburn Hospital and I did it somewhere around 4:30 - 5:00.  The side effects started in around 11:00 pm.  I am going to do it later this time but would like to hear what others have to say, I'm sure there are many who have experimented with different times in order to find a time that works best for them.

Thank you!
Linda

I wasn't working during my treatment, so I took my shots on Sunday evening around 6:00 p.m.. along w/2 tylenol, ambien, and phenergen to help me with the nausea.  The day after my shot was my best day of the week.  I felt better then, especially mentally, than any other day.  Just extremely exhausted.  My doctor told me I was a freak when I said my shots made me feel better.  Glad to hear that others have felt that way too.

I take mine first thing in the morning.  Start to feel it by late afternoon and then try to sleep through the rest of it.  My sides seem to be somewhat delayed 12 to as lone as 24 hours.  Did not arrive at this schedule until after a lot of trial and error.  Have to get to know your body I guess.  I try to plan it so that I have the next day off from work

I take mine Wednesday night (NZ time hehe!!)  around 9.00 pm then take a paracetamol 2 hours later (and these days, usually, half a sleeper).....

I had sx's 4-5 hours later on the early few shots (flu-like stuff but not major) and I'm usually quite speedy or feeling pretty good the day after, temp up a tiny bit and a few aches on either day 2 or 3 and the rest of the week is ever changing.    I'll often have an 'emotional half hour' sometime over the first 2 days but it's usually if I ignore pain relief, food or rest that my body needs ( like doing an exam with mild toothache - something gives a little under pressure :-); my family look out for it now and laugh me out of it)...   I do drink 4-5 litres water over the course of every day because I just seem to need it.

Hope your sx's a minimal Lynda - good luck with Shot# 2!!!!!

I had been taking mine for eight weeks on Friday evenings around 9:00 thinking that I had that night and the weekend to deal with the sx's.  My sx pattern turned out to having a bad day or two with low-grade fever mid-week and I thought moving the injection back to Friday morning or Thursday evening would give me a better chance to deal with the work week.  So, for three weeks now I have been taking it around 9:00 AM on Fridays.  Today was one of my better days since starting treatment 11 weeks ago, but maybe the Celexa that I started a week ago yesterday is really kicking in!  I'm curious to see how tomorrow goes.   Now, if only I could get rid of this rash.

Have the best possible weekend everyone!

Last night, eh! I guess the world can never end today becasue it is already tomorrow in NZ!

LindaC1207: I take mine around 9 PM (tonight), then watch dreadful sci fi movie (1940-1965 types, Vincent Price, etc.) and go to bed. Often I do not start feeling very bad until the next day. I should consider taking the shot earlier.

I did mine on Thursday nights at 7:30 pm.  I felt better after the shot until sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning and then I was a witch until next shot.

After about week 8-10 or so it was also the night I slept the best.
As you can see everyone one is different and we all have different sx's.

Try doing yours a little later tonight and see how you do.
& your sx's may not be the same as last week either.
Good Luck tonight with doing your shot-you'll be a pro before long!

I do mine on a Friday night about 9pm (last night).  It starts to kick in for me within a couple of hours with varying degrees of drowsiness and chills.

I used to take 2 Panadol (Tylenol) 20 minutes before my shot but have recently moved it to approx 2 hours after, right before bedtime, and I sleep through the night until about 8 or 9 in the morning.

I generally feel pretty groggy and heavy in the morning and always have a fever and cough.  This lasts most of the day.  I improve a little each day and by the day of my next shot I feel great!!

I have only missed a few Mondays at work.

I think taking it late and timing the Panadol with onset of the shots peak (4 to 5 hours after shot) has helped me sleep through a lot of the initial sides.

All the best!!!

I always did my shot on a friday night sometime between 6 and 9 pm.  Yep, same here....   I felt like **** about3-4 hours later.  Two ibuprofen before the shot.  Either an ambien or xanax right before bed.

I would get chills and aches.  Doing it at night allowed me to wrap up in a blanket and sleep thru alot of it.  the next morning, it was like I was run over by a truck,  very achy.  But then by Saturday night I was feeling a bit better.

Lots and lots of water.

Best of Luck!  You can make it thru!!!

Thanks to everyone for replying, I really appreciate it.  It really helps to know what other's are going through too.  This is such a great place to come, there's a strong bond between people here, "us dragon slayers", and it's a good feeling to know that I am not alone.

I'll be thinking of all of you this weekend, in fact, I'm buying a round of easy sides tonight!

Take care,
Linda

I was another who started feeling bad 4-5 hours after my shot, so I'd do it at lunch Friday and be feeling better by noon on Monday. I couldn't afford to miss work and didn't look any worse than most others I work with Monday morning.

I found that I started to get yucky feeling about 4 hours later. This seems to be a very very common number of hours for that to happen.

So, I took mine at 6pm every week with two tylenol to help fight any fevers or aches.

Then I took my Ambien at 9PM and went to sleep at 10PM.

It helped to escape a lot of the sides for me that way - I don't remember really suffering any of the fever/ache part at all until about week 30 and believe truly I may have slept through alot of it. I treated for 72 weeks and think it helped me make it through, big time.

Good luck. Treatment is tough but eventually it's over and SVR is worth it all.

i also feel clear and energized after most shots.
my worst part of the week is 2 to 3 days after shot with fatigue and headaches my main sides.
i just completed 24 weeks and test results are 'inconclusive' (less than 615 viral load but test unable to determine pos. or neg. at lower levels.
so i get to go another 24 weeks-ohboy- (i had expected an extension from my slow response to treatment.

for me-when i extended too much energy is when my after shot days would be the hardest so i've learned to slow down-tough part is we're using up our savings because i can't work-but i'll gladly trade money for health- can't wait to regain the energy i used to have.

the best of luck with your slaying

Around week 20 I had to start doing my shots on Friday mornings instead of at night because the shots were like doing "speed" to me... I would be cleaning house @ 3 in the morning... hee hee
So I do my shot before I go to work...I take 2 tylenol so I can make it through the little fever I get....around 3 in the afternoon I start getting tired and they know at work it's about time for me to wrap it up...
by Saturday I'm sick and in bed for the weekends...been that way all treatment... I just did my 38th shot today...basically haven't had a life since starting treatment... but hey..only got 10 WEEKS LEFT...God willing..!!!!
and that sounds like 10 DAYS to me at this point!!
*********Hey Linda--I had to make a trip to the store last night just to get 2 donuts tooo!!
You are not alone--- hee hee
Blessings to all us DRAGON Fighters this weekend...

Thanks, this is exactly what I'm looking for, yes, I do realize that no two people will have the exact same symptoms but I've also heard a lot of people talk about different times that they do their shot.  I do plan to do mine a little later but not too much, maybe my sides won't be that bad tonight.

Marcia, I'm glad to hear that the shot makes you feel good, your the first person I've heard say that but I'm sure there are others.

I had flu like symptoms after my first shot but they only lasted about 4-5 hours and then a little sick to my stomach the next morning but that was it, everyday since then has been okay, a little tired but I was tired before treatment, so it's hard to tell if that's from the treatment or not.  What really amazes me is my appetite, it's actually increased since I started treatment.  I find myself being drawn to sweets, in fact, I just ate two donuts....two, I never eat even one.  I've also been eating halloween candy, which I must stop, can't be good!  I suppose that I could use the weight, I'm sure I'll eventually start losing some.

I originally did my shot at 10 am, but recently had to move it to 5 pm.  I definately llike doing it better later.  (i just did #10)

The shot makes me tired, so it makes for a really good nights sleep.

But as Marcia says....everyone feels different after the shot.  So once it is clear how it makes you feel, it will be easier for you to decide what time to do it.

Good luck to you :-)

I do my shot at 15:00. But I have positive sides from the actual shot, it's the best I feel all week, for about 24 hours after doing my shot.

What I am trying to say is that everyone feels different after doing their shot, so I think it is something one needs to adjust to ones own needs.

Good luck,

Marcia
