What To Name This - FREAKING OUT HERE

This isn't Hep related but having just finished 48 weeks of combo tx it would be just my luck to be diagnosed with lung cancer and have another 3 months of cancer chemo.

I know, I know I'm borrowing trouble.

I had a CT scan of my abdomen area on the 14th.  My nurse just called to say they received the report and a spot was found on my lung.  I'm scheduled for a chest x-ray and then a CT scan of my lungs.  From there they will determine whether to do a lung biopsy.

My chest hurts, my stomach is tightened and I'm just absolutely freaking out here.  I've already taken one of my happy pills (valium) and I'm ready for another!

Thank God I have a place like this to come to and vent.

You know, until I was "accidentally" dx with HCV 1

Take a few deep breaths, maybe a little outside air and try to relax a little. I am sure that your X-Ray could possibly not be what you are thinking. I have had the same horrible feelings but mine have been directly linked to the interferons. I did therapy for 118 weeks, responded, but ultimately relapsed and now I have developed two tag-along's, as they call them. I have a 33 tumor marker, cryoglobulin & neuropathy. When I read the morning newspaper that said that they are contemplating that everyone have a HIV test, I thought what happened to HCV? To many people it is very important! Maybe this has taken your mind off of your thoughts for a few minutes, I hope so.I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers.

just wanted to say, that about 3 people in my family, including my mother, had these spots on chest x-rays and it turned out to be nothing, this is not uncommon...I'm pretty sure it'll turn out this way for you too...

After 48 weeks of this junk, you know the value of patience in getting through tough stuff.  There should be a law about getting this kind of information on a Friday afternoon.  You have a continuation of the hurry up and wait sx.  Don't have any advice for you Val except keep track of the time between the  Val-iums and try to keep yourself otherwise occupied this weekend.  There are a lot of new movies out these days.  If you survived 48 weeks just think of it as just one more, just without the meds.  Vent away, if you need to.

okay.  deep breath, big sigh.  Over and over.  I agree that NO ONE should get this kind of info on a Friday.  When they scheduled the first kidney CT scan it took two weeks to get the apt.  This apt is scheduled for first thing Tues am.  Do I read something into this?  Of course not, but human nature being what it is I'm already comparing myself to Dana Reeves.  What a crying shame that was!!!!!

More than likely it's nothing.  Tomorrow is Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets) so at least I'll be busy tonight and tomorrow with church stuff.  I went to the library and picked up a copy of the The Flame Trees of Thika.  7

I had about 8 ct scans (of the lungs) over a 2-year period as an ex-smoker participating in a "lung health study". During that time nodules would occasionally appear and disappear, probably traceable to the occasional cold or flu, or whatever. Freaking out's pretty natural, I figure. But it seems that this kind of stuff can come and go, to no great effect.
It's sort of an occupational hazard of looking at ourselves through such a fine lens; how can we not freak? But the appearance of spots is probably pretty normal - and normal to keep monitoring.

Please take a deep breath.  It is probably nothing but  I understand your concern.  Went thru the same thing myself.  Got done with tx and scheduled a physical and dam*ed if he didn't find a lump on my breast.  After much squishing by the evil mammogram machine and being slimed by the ultrasound machine lady, they assured me it was nothing. There is nothing you can really do at this point anyway so be easy on yourself.

How are your post tx side effects doing.

My uncle had lung cancer. That was 22 years ago. I went over to his house yesterday and he was mowing the lawn. Riding mower mind you, but he is 72 years old !!

Hang in there !!

Im so sorry you have the whole weekend to worry through, but you seemed to have lined yourself up with busy work, my dad had the same thing said to him and it turned out to be nothing.

Please don't freak out. Hold your right index finger gently with the left hand for fear. Hold the middle finger for anger. Hold the ring finger for grief or sadness. Hold the pinkie for try tos or trying too hard (forcing things, not my will but His will). Hold the thumb for worry or all around well being. The right hand is present time. The left hand is the past. It really works.

mrsokert,
I am new here and just last night posted my tantrum for all to see.  This makes my problems seem so small.  I am sorry to hear your news.  My mother had throat cancer 1 1/2 years ago, had to have a feeding tube, went through 40 intense radiation treatments and 3 excruiating chemo tx.  She is cancer free now, but has had a couple of scares.  They did a PET scan and found a spot on her lung.  I took her for the biopsy, and before they performed the procedure, they took an x-ray, and it turned out she had pneumonia, never thought I would see her so happy to have pneumonia.  Good luck to you!

why do we humans jump to think the worst first instead of thinking the best until we hear the worst.

Mrs O - I agree that I've directly known several people who have had to be evaluated for the dreaded spot on the lung, and I've never directly known anyone who had lung cancer. Most likely it's nothing.

Friole - Glad everything turned out OK. What a scare and unpleasant diagnostics. Did you consider can-man could have done the squishing? You might not have learned as much, but you know he would have been funny!

That sqeezing of the digits sounds pretty intriguing. Anyone know what I should grasp for unfulfilled lust, past and present?

Hey Mrs. O: Sorry you are having to deal with this on the heals of treatment. Hopefully and prayerfully it is a false alarm. You've been so upbeat for me through my treatment and so thoughtful in offering me the treatment drugs you had left. You're a real sweet person and I hate to see you feeling this way. If you need someone to talk to you know my number and you will be in our thoughts. Dale
