I have never treated before 1st time.  I just took the blood test to see if my chances are on the good side of average (as my doctor put it) or on the not so good.  I am waiting for the results of the test that tests you immunology compatibility??

As Pooh says, it depends on many factors:  whether a person has treated before or not, genetics, and some other factors play a role.  If you have never treated before, you have 75-80% chance of curing your Hep C now with the current treatments.

I don't know that there is a way to give you the 'odds'.  It's my feeling that it's a 'cr*p-shoot'.  What I mean by that is that the fortunate ones (1A's) who treat and get SVR versus those who treat over and over and still can't clear.  I have know people who treat 1 time, like with triple TX and clear right on the first treatment-particularly those with little to no damage.  Then, I've known other people who have treated numerous times w/o ever clearing (me).  On a positive note, with the newer drugs coming out, the chances at clearing are much better now, than they used to be.    Susan400

I'm genotype 1a and have cirrhosis, and I completed 48 weeks of triple tx last September. The virus has been undetectable in me since November 2011. I have just 4 more weeks before I can be officially called SVR. It can be done!

Yes, what "Pooh" said! I'm on week 4 and have high hopes. No alcohol, try to get plenty of rest, drink extra fluids, make your diet at least a little more liver friendly. 75% cure rate is high enough to make me go through 48 weeks of this. :)

Yes, many of us have gone through treatment and many of us have attained SVR (cure).

The current treatment for Hep C 1a is triple medication treatment (Interferon, Ribavirin, and a Protease Inhibitor). The triple medication treatment has about a 75% cure rate depending on various factors.

" the best SVRs were seen in treatment-naive and prior-relapse patients (≥75%)"
