The interferon riba treatment costs about 20k for 48 weeks. However there are many other associated costs and meds and tests that you need to have as well.  I treated for 72 weeks and in between the tests, meds and other things figure my treatment cost about $200,000.

I got my monies worth out of my insurance that year for sure!

Those prices are interesting.  Just for reference - I'm treating in Japan, where I pay about US$800 per month for bi-weekly consultations, bi-weekly blood tests, weekly Interferon shots administered at the hospital, and a one month supply of Riba/Halcion/other drugs.  I'm covered by mandatory medical insurance - the amount I pay is the residual.

Why do doctors wait so long to tell a patient they have hepc? I think its terrible to find years later that you have this decease.
