What to take for back pain.

by recovering, Aug 21, 2002 12:00AM
Hi. I recently developed some back pain (8 weeks ago). The doctor said I have some arthritis and possibly a sprained back. He prescribed some pain killer and some anti-inflammatory medication. Is it ok to take codeine, meloxicam, carisoprodol, or other anti-inflamatory medication? I'm still confused about tylenol or aspirin.  Which is safer for a hep c person like me?  I'm still not on tx. Thanks.

I sympathize with you guys. I have horrible back pain all the time. Mine is from compression factures that have caused arthritic changes. Nothing helps my pain and believe me I've tried everything. Some people who cannot take opiates have used simple things like motrin. I understand that motrin isn't the greatest drug for the liver and it should only be taken under the guidance of a hep doc and for short periods of time. It's kind of a risk vs benefit type of thing. Another friend of mine who tried everything and got no relief swears by methadone. At least methadone is liver friendly.
