When will Telepevar be released to the public for prescription use with Ribavarin and Interferon?

I was on the Interferon and Ribivarin treatment and I was inactive for 8 months but when I went to my next appointment I was told that my new test were showing that I was now active. I was devastated because everything was going so well as far as results from the meds (not side effects.....UGH....). My doctor told me it’s going to be O.K. that in 6 months there was a new medication being released to the public that had no reported side effects and since I had reacted so well to the Interferon and Ribavirin treatment alone that I would be a very good candidate for Teleprevar  but, I would have to also start back up on the Interferon and Ribivarin as well. Despite all of the side effects that I had on  these two medications (to many to list, they were excuciating, debilitating, and indescribable.... I thought that I was dying) but, I am desperately and impatiently sitting here waiting for Teleprevar to hit the market so that my Dr. can get me started on this new treatment. I recently have been seeing posts from other people saying that they are already taking this new medication Teleprevar could this be true? If so when did it come out and is it available in California? If not do you know when it will be available for public use  here in California?

Anybody in the US who is presently taking Telaprevir is participating in a clinical trial.  Telaprevir is likely to be approved by the FDA on May 23, and it will be available to the public immediately.  Telaprevir will be used in addition to the present SOC (ribavarin and peg. interferon) and is a very promising treatment for those who have previously relapsed after SOC.

Hang in there, it won't be long now.  Good luck to you.
