Where do I start and where do I look?

OK I'm 24 yrs. old. I got dx with Hep. C last year. It is at a 2-3 stage. Just recently the doctors told me that my kidneys are about to shut down. So with them not working it means it killing my liver faster. They want to give me the transplant but they have to find a kidney with hep. c with genotype 1. They want to try to start my hep c. treatment but are afraid that my kidneys wont work and filter out everything. And they don't know how long it will take to find the right transplant. Does anyone have any advice for me? I was wanting to look for a kidney with those specifics and if anyone else has had or close to the same situation please let me know how things worked out. Thank you

Not being a doctor I have no idea if you could go through treatment on top of needing a kidney. I'm really sorry you are having to go through all this pain. Have you had a second opinion? Your case sounds very complicated.

I wish you the very best.

Well the hospital that I went to they said they weren't going to give me a healthy one. It had to be a hep c infected one. I don't know why, though. I was always wanting to start my hep c treatment, but I was wanting to be on dialysis at the same time. I don't know if I could be. My back is starting to turn colors as if I got a really big bruise. My lower back and stomach hurt all the time. Do you think I'd be able to make it through my hep c treatment with my kidneys starting to show signs of shutting down? Any advice will help thank you so much.

I don't understand. A person with hep C who needs an organ transplant can  get a donor organ that is perfectly healthy. They only time they use hep C infected organs is when it is the only organ available and the hep C patient will die if he or she is not transplanted immediately. What does needing a kidney have to do with using a hep C organ? You can use a perfectly healthy kidney and if that was not available,  you could use a hep C positive kidney instead of waiting for a healthy one. But I can't see why they would be looking for a hep C kidney unless there are no other kidneys available and they think you will need one before one becomes available. Are you on dialysis now?
