I hadn't seen it but I did go read it, thank you! I remember those last pre tx days as being so LONG, I couldn't wait to just start the dang thing and get going. I hope you are better at being patient than I am! I really found once I got going and was actively attacking the virus it gave me a big boost mentally. Even if I did feel icky physically from the meds.
I have been researching all I can on this sulfasalazine and the mechanisms behind regeneration, I do try to keep up on the forum but it's sporadic. This info about liver regeneration is difficult to comprehend so it works my brain to the max, what's left of it anyway!
If I have it right you start up tx very soon. I hope it is a breeze for you. Remember, most of us here have sides but there are thousands out there who don't have any significant sides and manage just fine, don't need rescue drugs and say it wasn't as bad as they had heard before they did it so let's hope you are one of them.

I like to read what you say when you answer threads. Very interesting comments and you're always encouraging in what you say. Just wanted to tell you that, being I haven't mentioned it before , but always thought it.

BTW, is SFBay girl doing okay. haven't seen her. She too is always so sweet.

Thank you for your sweet comments. I haven't seen her on the forum, I wrote her an email to check in and I will let you know if I hear from her. I am hoping it is a sign she is feeling better and out doing things and not a sign she is feeling too bad to post!

Thanks for your nice comments. Yes, I start tx on Sat.
My immune system is very strong and I continue to strengthen it with positive thinking, meditation and healthy food, good company, etc.

Do you know if we can drink Ensure? Is it recommended?

I have heard of people using Ensure. Personally I think it tastes AWFUL. I make a smoothie of fresh frozen berries with a few scoops of my trusty vanilla protein powder a hand full of nuts, organic yogurt, soy milk and blend it. In a pinch I just mix protein powder mix with milk and chug it down. It takes two seconds and I can make them even if  Ensure or any of those drinks are a rip off I think, I make much better tasting and better for you ones for one fifth the price. I have a hard time mustering up an appetite often so this solved the problem for me I can use it as a m eal replacement if my stomach is queasy. I had some pretty dismal eating habits prior to getting sick a few years back from this. I now am more on top of it. The smoothie came off a heart smart medical diet plan. A friend had a 7 valve open heart surgery at 45. I didnt even know we HAD that many valves! He also used to have diabetes. Now he has neither heart disease or diabetes due to his great diet/exercise regimen so I called him when I got sick. The smoothies are his recipe and great. They are at least as good and probably better than Ensure. He suggested the protein powder drinks for on the fly instead of anything in a can or bottle, I just mix up chocolate flavored powder and milk. I avoid all trans fats I can and preservatives as much as humanly possible. Got a juicer for my birthday from my husband and it is great for having fresh raw veggies and fruits.
Also got a breadmaker (they are dirt cheap) and make all of our bread at home now. It is super easy and so good. I get the yeast online for dirt cheap and make the best breads for about 40 cents a loaf. We used to live in sonoma county and so missed the wonderful fresh breads that are so readily available there. Here, forget it, no good bread. All I do is dump in the flour and grains in and push a button. It also makes pasta and pizza dough.

Hi! You sound like your ol' self! I sent you an email in response to yours. I don't check to often. I have been doing worker's comp evaluations and courts this week. They brought up a lot of issues regarding my PTSD. I have to go to trial and get attacked on all my past history. That ought to be fun on tx! It will be on valentines day. But I now wonder why I thought to do tx while having severe symptoms from PTSD? One of the sx's of this is that I can't go places alone, except the dr or lab. I suppose my being house bound by PTSD kinda works out with the tx, since I don't feel like going out much anyway. I have been feeling much better lately though and have been out with friends and family quite a bit. It almost feels normal! I can even contribute to converstations. I hate it when I feel so bad, I can't even muster up enough words to even act like I want to be there...very alienating to others!

I read the article you posted. Very interesting! It gives me hope. I need to get my diet in better shape though. I can't eat anything unless I crave it. At the moment it is still eggsalad and chocolate milk, cheese and apples and ensure. Quite a diet huh? I made me feel better that the liver can regenerate. I have been worried, b/c my ultra sound said I have "fatty liver versus cirrhosis" meaning either/or my dr. says. I am not sure I read it that way?
