Wigs anyone?

Wigs anyone?

I am into week 27 of tx.  I started losing my hair at about 16 weeks or so.  I had very fine, thin hair to begin with, so I'm really noticing the empty spots.

It was helpful reading the posts from everyone about their experiences......crying while reading that others are going thru the same things.

It is kinda silly to worry about HAIR right now, but it unfortunately is who we are.

So far I've been non-detected. Ya hoo!!  22 weeks to go.

Does anyone know where to get lost cost wigs?  I've started staying home alot because I don't want anyone to see me....

Good luck and God Bless all of us!!

Yes I certainly do! I treated for 72 weeks and about week 24 went hyper to hypo thyroid - I kind of double lost my hair for a while and probably lost about 75 - 80%.  The good news is it grows back wonderfully fast fast and healthy it's like getting a whole head do-over (and with the amount of years I've bleached my hair I needed it!)

I got all of my wigs on ebay.  They weren't real hair but believe me nobody really knew they weren't my hair - in fact I got complimented on the ones that had streaks in them when I'd go out!

Buying them on ebay I was able to get a whole bunch of them - different colors, styles...I enjoyed it actually after a while.  I'd match them to my outfits and my makeup and it made me feel SO much better about myself coming in to work!

Once you look around you'll realize that the better ones seem to come from stores that transvestites use...and have you ever seen them on television - they are so meticulous and perfect they look better than us women sometimes (well most of the time it seems LOL).

They cost from about $20 - $50 tops.  If you click on my pictures there is a picture of me at a racetrack - that was my favorite wig I felt really really glam cause it was so so long...people would say my God your hair is so shiny LOL yup and I didn't even have to wash it and style it this morning I just had to put it on!  :)

Good luck!!!!!

And now for the rest of the strory....

What NYG did not add was the response she got to the neon green wig, her black patent leather lederhosen, matching 4 inch heels and the fishnet stockings.

Yeah I bet....My husbands first thought when I mentioned a wig was "oh boy, red, long...different color every day"  I was kinda thinking somewhat more natural...we'll see! LOL

A lot of us went to shorter haircuts so the thinning is less noticeable and most of us long-hairs started wearing pony tails.  A stranger probably would not notice anything odd about you.  Lots of women have thin hair.  For a little while more you will be one of them.

I realize now that it is starting to grow back (bangs anyone?) that it was probably never as noticeable to everyone else as it was to me.
