a new girl friend

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have just met a very nice girl and she was honest enough to tell me that she has Hep C. If we have sex/oral sex can I get the disease and what other ways can I contract the disease from her

Hey...My daughters name is Joni!!
Humor is SO important when doing tx. Depression is a MAJOR side from these meds. It comes from a chemical imbalance in the brain caused by the meds. Laughter is a direct cure for this. The endorphins and such that are released when we REALLY laugh have an immediate effect and completely combat that imbalance. That's why I say a lot of what I do. Ask anyone who went through tx with me. Sure...we felt like ****...but we sure weren't depressed all the time. I was a LOT crazier then too. Hahahaha
Good to have you here. FIRE AWAY!!

That was absolutely the best way to put it all in words without offending anyone lol.

I really miss all of our conversations we used to have here on this forum, the jokes, the laughs, the bickering even down right arguments.

To all the newbies, I am sorry to welcome you to this forum because more than likely you also have this dreaded disease, but on the good side of things you couldn't have found a better place to get you through this tough time. The old timers have so much knowledge, insight and compasion and the new people have so many questions they need answered. We have all been new here at one time and it does help to talk to others going through the same thing. So many times I have turned to this forum whether to ask, learn, cry, laugh  or just vent. Our friends and families try to understand and help but they just don't and can't imagine just what our bodies and minds are going through so please when you need to talk don't forget that you can always come here.

Good Luck and God Bless all of us!! Kim

We just took a vote here and think YOU should answer the fishman question ha ha.
My boss and his wife took me and mine to Indy 500 in 97 because we won a big award the year before I was dx. What a great experience. Felt like I was in America again hard to explain.

Please excuse my butting in on this thread.
Indy, Would it be too personal to ask, what part of Indiana. Indpls is my home town, although I haven't lived there for many years. Around 24. My family are all still there. I miss my family but I don't miss the winter weather except at Christmas.
Sorry if I'm being to forward. berlynn

I live just outside of Zanesville....a little town just south of Ft. Wayne. Home of cows and corn.....and apparently badgers and Woodpeckers. My kids go to Norwell High School and just placed 3rd in the state marching band championships in Indianapolis after winning it all last year. They will now go to the BOA(Bands of America) National championships to be held in Indianapolis at The RCA Dome for the next 2 weekends. They won that one for their class last year. They are in the small school class but the competition is feirce. Out here most of the kids live on farms and it's funny to see them show up for school and practics on their tractors and combines.
My brother lives in Indianapolis about a mile from the Speedway and I go down there and stay for the 500 and the Brickyard races. I'm not so sure I would like living in a town THAT big though. Up here everything is a LOT more layed back. Our kids can still talk about God in public school and an exciting event is celebrating farmer Bobs' new bull. The last Major crime was that kids raid on Freds turkey farm. It was resolved pretty quickly after 3 shotgun blasts in the air sent them running.
The winters here haven't been all that bad the last few years. It's the FLOODS that have caused the problems. Most folks have now traded in their snowmobiles for rubber rafts.
Is that enough??  Or was their something more you were interested in? Stop by anytime for some chicken and cornbread. Just ask any northern cow where the crazyman lives....They all know me............

WOW INDIANA !
...and I thought I lived in the sticks. Now I know where we get our since of humor from...it's from having to entertain ourselves 'cause there ain't a whole lot else to do.
I live just outside the big city of Bristol, TN, also only a couple of miles from the Bristol Motor Speedway, and we too are prone to flooding in the low areas. Just ask any of the NASCAR fans who come here twice a year. You can tell when they get into town, because it always rains.
Now, how have the doctors been with you and Hep-C in your region, or did you have to travel some to find one who gave a damn? They have been very uninformed and unhelpful here, but with some perseverance and research I was finally able to get one to OK my taking the Pegasys. I'm fairly certain I was one of the first in my area to receive this tx. I even went to the University of VA in Charlottsville, VA and spent all day in the university hospital there only to have them tell me I needed to return home to find a doc here to treat me. It's been very hard to keep my sence of humor, but because of people like yourself and others here on this forum that made me laugh, I've had the strength to keep going, and now I'm almost "cured". I have seven more weeks to go!...one more question...you are still SVR I hope, and what worked to rid you of the virus? Thanks again!

Since AK Hepper gets mad at me when I answer questions like this, I'm gonna TRY to stay outa this one. I must say that it's hard to let a fishman/oral sex question go though.
"and lead me not into temptation"...........
Come-on AK.....YOU answer this one..............

I never was mad at you, sorry if it came across that way. Seems like I'm always having to explain my feeble attempts at humor, I guess I just don't put 'em down in writing well. Maybe I should just be a lurker instead. Like everyone else here I really enjoy reading your posts, so you just fire away at will.

First of all I'm impressed that she told you about this. She sounds like "a keeper". Hcv is REALLY hard to get through "normal" sex. Less than 5% of folks get it that way. It is pretty much a blood-to-blood disease. Many folks have been married to a hep c positive person for 30+ years and never caught it. Since it is a blood-to blood disease you need to think about it that way.
Just avoid anything that can open minor cuts right before. Don't brush your teeth right before hand. Don't shave. No nail trimming. No trimming of the "South Lawn" right before hand. Think about it....if you brush your teeth and shave and happen to open up some little cuts and she does some trimming on the South Lawn and has some minor abrasions that could all spell trouble. If she still wants to have sex with an unshaven guy with green teeth, marry her right away! Makes Saturdays SO much easier to take.
Be careful not to nibble too much on the "Tender Petals" of the South Lawn either. I hear it can be sensitive and does NOT take too well to teeth. Hopefully your tongue is not as rough as my cats.
If you have a "winkie" instead of a "Tree" that should help too. If not...just use plenty of lube.
NO "rough" sex. Keep the whips and chains in the closet for this one.
Most importantly....think about using a condom. And not the "rough rider" or any wild ones that may cause too much friction. These days I can't see why anyone wouldn't use one while dating anyways.
Be careful with the oral sex from her too. I know it's much less abrasive.....just don't knock her teeth out if it gets too intense.
I would say "act like you're married" but then you wouldn't be gettin ANY....unless you cleaned out the garage and took out the garbage.
Seriously....keep it pretty basic and don't get too wild. Wear a condom for added protection.
