alcoholics liver

by scotowat, Jun 30, 2009 10:32AM
I have extreme jaundice that i have  been trying to get over.  I have heard of an herbal treatment called coenzyme q10.  Is this a good idea for my condition?

Jaundice indicates a damaged liver or other organ in the digestive system.  Forget the herbals, which can only improve the symptoms, and find out exactly why you are jaundiced (which organ is seriously damaged) by visiting a hepatologist (gastroenterologist specialized in liver diseases).  Do it soon and follow his advice for treating the cause.

Q10 is not a herb-it is a pharmaceutical copy of an enzyme that the body produces naturally.
The claimed benefit is that it enhances the absorbtion of nutrition from food.
Jaundice is typified by a build up of the pigment bilirubin usually caused by a damaged liver and manifested by a yellow appearance in the patient.
The notion that taking a Q10 supplement can treat this potentially serious condition is misguided.
