ammonia levels and hep c

by doofledorf, Apr 07, 2007 12:00AM
thankyou to those who responded to my last ? I have a family member with hep c.She lost her husband from complications of hep a few years ago.She has 2 daughters and has remarried. Her new hubby is very good to them all. She says her ammonia level gets high fairly often and when it does she gets a little "crazy" but later can't remember much of it.............she had about 6wks of "cocktail" clinical trial..did not respond. Her viral load is now undetectable, but liver enzymes still up. She had a biopsy ans she says she is genotype 1...dr.was going to sign for her to be on hospice last sept or oct. but she did not want to go on it. Now her dr. wouldn't put her on hospice. She says she is not taking any more treatments..so I guess is just living one day at a time. My emotions go up and down, too. I will probably talk more to her soon. Well, thanks for listening.I know every situation is different..(She takes lactulose to help keep

ammonia down) Anyone out there with problems with ammonia levels? Thanks again!
