HEPATITIS C COMMUNITY
anybody ever check this

anybody ever check this

I have not been here in a while and really disgusted with this whole thing of having hep c for so many years and trying to get rid of it and failed several times, and now I realize that age factor is a big play.I been trying to find a trial and do it again with something other then interferon and ribo for a year and cant find a thing. I went to the VA hosp. today and found out they use the same thing and I was looking up a doctor they told me about and I ran into this, Does anybody know anything about this product and if you do please let us know. Check out this page and you can scroll and find results but too complicated for me. thanks.

It's not a cure Salvo and I really don't know if it actually improves liver health.  I tend to stay away from things like that.  You know the only cure for hepc is interferon and ribavirin and many of us who have failed treatment previously are waiting for the protease inhibitors to be released in 2011.  Interferon and ribavirin will used in conjunction with the protease inhibitor (triple therapy) and increases the odds of SVR to around 75 percent.

I thank you for the reply, and was hoping for something positive but I'm dreaming. I think about this again and I feel sick thinking I might have to try it again. I had to give up my doctor because  the university of Miami trying to charge me for so many thing I could not handle it any more, but I still wonder what happened to the INFORM 1 that my doctor told me about. He explained to me it was great in the trials in another country but what happened here? Never heard a thing about it again.

I know salvo, I sometimes get discouraged too.  I'm not sure about the INFORM1 trials but I'm thinking the preliminary results weren't as positive as they anticipated in that interferon and ribarvirin was still needed with the combo of a protease and polymerase inhibitor?  I'm sure someone who knows more will comment.

Also, I'm thinking along the lines that Vertex who manufactures Telaprevir will offer it at a reduced price or no charge to those who do not have insurance coverage or a means by which to pay.  Merck offers a patient assistance program for those who can't afford interferon and ribavirin so all is not lost.  I am not looking forward to treating again myself, it's a chunk out of my life I don't want to give up but I will do so gladly for a chance to kill this son-of-a-b-i-t-c-h virus once and for all.

Hang in there, we'll beat this
