ast and alt

I have a question, I am clear at 1year as I posted last week. My Doctor just called and told me my alt was 68 and my ast was 199. He wants to do another test the end of Sept. I take no meds and I don't drink. All the other blood test are good. Are these numbers that high? thanks

Hello Pearse,

I hope that the high ALT and AST can be explained and that it is just a temporary condition. Were your ALT and AST checked at your 6 month post tx? If so, what were the results?

Hi pearse,
Sorry to hear about your elevated ALT & AST values.
Here's some info I have been able to gather for you from Quest Diagnostics web site. You can drop in there for further investigation.

Don't know the answer to your question but I can imagine the numbers aren't what you wanted to hear. Hope Tony's link will help you. You are "CLEAR" try not to forget that while you set about researching the link:).
Best of luck to you.

Pearse,

I just read an article about people that obtain SRV status and a rare few continue to have elevated ALT and AST levels.
If I can remmember where I read it I will post a link. I am thinking it was at the Janis web Site.

You will have to search, I don't remmember what article I was reading

                  Good Luck,
