by beloved, Oct 30, 2004 12:00AM
I haven't taken tx for 2months, all of a sudden i have blood in my urine. Is this something to be concerned about or should i just wait see if it clears up.
Also i have had Hair loss which continues, about a third of my hair, any of you women out there have any suggestions for hair styles. Should I get it cut short as it is so thin. will it grow back, sorry for the silly question but have never experianced this before. thanx for any advice. deb

On the blood in the urine question -- I'm certainly not a doctor or expert in this field, but I would imagine that blood in the urine is something that you should get checked out.  Blood in the urine could signal a uniary tract infection, kideny issues, etc..none things you want to let go very far without having them evaluated.

On the hair loss issue -- I've only noticed a little loss on tx, however, I lost a ton of hair after the delivery of my son (I would estimate 25%?), so I can relate even if the cause was different.  I do think that in general, shorter hair makes the loss less aparrent, as does avoiding any extreme processing which would further damage the hair.  You may also want to have your thyroid levels checked, as this can sometimes be the reason behind hair loss (and there is obviously the connection between the tx drugs and thyroid problems).

I second what cao said about Dr. for urine problem. And also the short hair. I lost a third of mine during tx. and for 3 months after. Now at 6 months post, it is all back and very healthy. I got it cut short again (very) when it started coming back in, so it could all grow together. Didn't want the new stuff to feel lonely. LOL    Joni

And there wasn't a lot on my head when I started tx I wonder can I now claim it  as a dependent on my taxes?

Sruffers  sorry for the bad news man I hope the bx is ok

I would call your doc immediately immediatelu about the blood. That is definatelynot normal after tx.

As for the hair. I lost hair costantly during tx and still do after though it is getting better. I wear it very short and use hair manipulator to give it a fluffy kind of spikey look. It's thin but looks ok. I can't beleive how many people out of the blue say, Your hair is so cute I wish I had the nerve to do that. It can be fun. LL

Know that I am a woman of  unusual refinement and would never cast an eye at the likes of that ecclesiastical skank known as "The Bishop."    But alien encounters out in the cactus....ahh, now that is another story.   Otherworldly, you might say.   And the best part is they come to you--all you have to do is BELIEVE!    (And take more interferon, which is what it looks like I'll be doing, thanks for asking.)

Hi there, the single worst sx of tx for me was easily the hair loss.  I would estimate that I have lost 1/2  to 3/4 of my hair; at least that's how it feels to me.  Fortunately, I had very thick hair to start with but I couldn't stand all the hair falling out so I found a really good hairdresser and had it cut short and spikey:), the new short style is really easy to care for.  Shorter does appear thick for me. Since I couldn't control the hair loss, I decided to have fun with it and have changed the color each month.  The latest shade of is quite dark right now and while I wouldn't normally choose this color, I find I am enjoying looking so different.  (my hair was below my shoulders prior to tx.  My motto throughout tx has been that If you're given lemons, try to make lemonade:).
Very best of luck to you.
