blood coming out after pulling out the needle and other pegasys problems

Recently I had lot of problems when injecting pegasys.
several times I found out that some of the fluid was leaking from the syringe when I injected it.
Last friday everything was good until I pulled out the needle from the belly and then I saw a large dark drop of blood. I wiped it and the bleeding immediatly stopped. usually I don't have any bleeding.

I don't do the aspiration step of the instructions since it can cause more troubles than help.

Did anybody else had these problems? evey time I do this injection something goes wrong.

Could you please explain where and when the leaking is occurring in more detail ?

Bleeding after an injection is normal. When the needle puncture's the skin and travels through the different layers of skin and tissue, it is going to go through blood vessels, some of the time the blood vessels are larger and closer to the surface of the skin, so you will get more bleeding after the needle is removed.

It leaked from plastic part of the needle at the spot that connects the needle to the syringe.
Now I press hard the cup of the needle a few times when I connect the needle to the syringe to avoid this problem.

I had some leaking once when I accidently pulled that part (connection) away when taking off the lid. I had drop of blood and then bruising once. Nurse said don't worry 'bout it.

I was flicking the syringe to get the air out one time and the whole tip fell off. You just have to make sure it's on there tight before you inject.

Just make sure you use an alcohol swab to push the needle tighter onto the tube. It's very important to clean all surfaces with alcohol before you inject.

Having a drop of blood after pulling out the needle was fairly common for me. The doc said not to worry about it also I used to have a drop or two of meds leaking after pulling out the syringe, the way to control that is to make sure that you leave the needle in the skin for 30 sec to a minute. As far as losing meds from the connection you do have to make sure that you push the needle on tight. Good luck to you.    Kim
