blood in urine

by diane04, Jul 01, 2009 06:35PM
I just got a call from the study group in which I just had labs and bx. They told me I had blood in my urine and asked if it was that time of month. Of course my luck it is. He told me this was an exclusion for this study. He said he would contact whomever higher up and see what could be done considering I had good (negative) results last  time. They had to test me again something about the labs before were more than 35 days old. Does anyone have a suggestion as to whats next. As in last post all other numbers optimal you know with the exception of the pcr and alt ast.  I travel a long way, I am willing travel once more to do another urine sample.

If it was a 'monthly' deal, go and retest when timing is better.  I'd hate to see you get excluded because they think you have kidney trouble when you don't.

I know the exclusion criteria for a study are listed on clinicaltrials.gov but don't think the total requirements are.  Mine were on the informed consent copy, which I may have signed before I was accepted into the study.  That document contained all the stuff about 'You will be required to...'  For the Phase 3 Boceprevir naive study it was 1) Current ECG  2) Chest x-ray 3) Current eye exam if you have diabetes or high blood pressure 4) Current ultrasound if you have cirrhosis or significan fibrosis 5) biopsy.

I only needed them to do the chest x-ray and biopsy; had the rest done during the diagnosis dance and my docs sent them over.

You can have them restest your urine after your period is over....or use a tampon when you give them a sample.  That will keep the sample clean.

Just an update, I will start meds in 2 weeks. I guess they went with the previous bloodwork. I will keep everyone posted. How soon after meds are started do they test viral load? I will be on the r7128 roche trial. wish me luck
