A lot depends on the color of the blood whether it is black or bright red.  Black means it has gone thru the digestive system, and bright red usually means it is something in the colon.   I had this in 2000, and had a large polyp in my colon.  had a colonoscopy, which was not to bad the yucky stuff to drink and the gas afterwards were the worst part of it but liveable.  Then had a polypectomy, which was an outpatient surgery, and went very easily.  I agree that you need to get it all checked out ASAP, but it may not be that big a deal.  You do not tell us whether or not you have hep c, that may be the cause of your abdominal pain, but it may also be your gallbladder. Wish you the best!!!  Shadey
