blood tests

by Sherry Wentling, Nov 03, 1999 12:00AM
Hello, I,m 43 / F .I recently had some blood work done for lupus. One of the tests was an anti-smooth muscle test..it came back high at 1:20.I have had alot of liver pain in the past and now.Last month I started having pale yellow stools for three days in a row then it stopped. Now I,m having it again. It never lasts long. Also i might mention the anti dna (ds) was high at 69... ana was neg this time. I had a pos one in dec of 98. So he says I dont have lupus. my doctor wont do liver tests... He says these tests just mean I have alot of inflammation. he says 3% of healthy people have a high anti-smooth muscle test.Could this be hepatitis? He says because I,m not yellow I dont have a problem with my liver..he did put me on prednisone 15mg a day and an antibiotic for a sinus and bronchitis twice in 1 1/2 months.Just need some ideas as to what to do next...thanks for any ideas,
                                            Sherry
