Willing (a forum member) posted this in a comment on another thread today about new PI data coming out of The Liver Meeting:

"Ribavirin is genotoxic and mutagenic and should be considered a potential carcinogen."

Which comes from the package insert.

Who knows? The meds, aging, HCV... regardless, you need to take care of yourself and get well. Sure hope things go well. Keep us posted.

I had a benign tumor of my neck a few years before Peg/Riba treatment. I also had sweat gland cancer on the bottom of my foot about a year after treatment. Fact is, just because me have chronic hepatitis doesn't mean we can't get other diseases. As people get older more health issues appear. When we were young most people I know never had a serious illness. Now as they approach 50/60 people many are have health issues of one sort or another.

Good luck with your surgery.
Take care.
