bone pain

bone pain

i recently stopped tx @21 weeks of 24 stopped because bas sx and throat infection left me feeling really unwell. i stopped inj. 4/10 and riba 4/17 i have been having odd sensations like shooting pain random muscular & nerve pain.  Last night i could not sleep due to deep pain in bones they ache all over still have this this morning no real sleep last night. no fever, but i am slow to get over this throat infection despite 1 week of antibiotics - still taking.  yesterday & today. it seems i can not get my body warm, just feel chilled even w/elec. blanket and extra and i am in CA.  i don't feel fever, just the chills and bone pain.  got my most recent blood work yesterday, i can't remember the numbers. but mono, neutro, wbc and things which likely help w/infection are all low.

any one experience this, i have procrit, would it help? i was to take the last injection 22, and procrit last wed. but did not feel i could go another day.  any recommendation with weaning off procrit, maybe there is something i should have done that i didn't. i had been taking every 2 wks. it is now 2.5 since my last injection. hemo is okay at 11.5 or so.  i am not on antidepressants, but take thyroxine, serax antianxiety, ibuprofen & vitamins

thanks in advance for your reply.

It really sounds you have a horrible flu type virus to me....when I quit the meds I got so much better so quickly - after a week *(and I was on them 72 weeks so they were FULLY involved in almost every cell everywhere in my body) I could tell a big improvement.

If your CBC results are all in range - then it might just be a regular old every day virus getting you down.

Are you taking Advil for the bone aches?

Did you try a heating pad or warm bath too?

God even when I'm trying not to I sound like a mom, some habits you can't break.

I think you should follow every single thing you would do it a child was to have the flu - maybe just maybe that might help your symptoms a little bit?

I'm SO sorry you feel this way.  Are you on neupogen that can cause bone pain but I think your neuts and stuff weren't that whacked that bad (.5?) from what I read today (still brain foggy but it's natural not from meds)

Sorry you're feeling so badly, rose.
Upper respiratory infections can cause all the symptoms you mentioned.

But I know what you mean about not being able to get warm.  I'm a person who LOOOOVES cold weather - in fact I'm moving north - but for the last few weeks I suddenly find I'm freezing all the time.  I'm beginning to wonder if that's another sx.

But at least you're off the meds now and hopefully you'll begin to feel better soon.

I can totally relate to the bone pain you are talking about. From my personal experience when you have a virus or infection, your body will produce a fever and interferon to try to fight the bug you have. Hence the bone pain. I also believe that ehen your nuetriphils and wbc counts are trying to rise you experience bone pain. That is why i had such horrible bone pain when i took the nueprogen shots. I was at the ER yesterday  with bone pain and fever probably a virus or something, i noticed on my bloodwork that my nuetriphils are slowly coming up. I don't think taking the procrit will help as that is for your red blood cells. I hope you are feeling better soon and i hope you want to join the short tx club.....2birds a bug and a bud. It's funny how we all need each other to survive......i think it's a good sign.    Anita

thank you all for responding. i ended up sleeping most of the day, after i posted. did a search on some old posts i guess we are all going through the same for many years.

no bone pain in daytime and slept just fine. sadly i missed the rain - i love the rain so good for the birds, bugs, and flowers.  hopefully will be able to sleep nights soon. i am all twisted around with my sleep that is when i can. got dressed and went out for a few hours, still weak but i took the effort. i am really just holed-up in my bedroom most of the time.  i seem to thrive on quiet lately. can't handle visual or much of any stimulationreally, hope that goes away soon. i will see what tonight brings in terms of sleep.

take care. hope you are all feeling well

Rosebud: The importance of sleep can't be over stressed. If your not sleeping well at night, consider ambien or something like it. Tases great, less filling.

NYgirl - I'm starting to get bone pain myself. Seems to been kinda on a monthly cycle. I know cause it always seems to be not long after all my magazines arrive in the mail. Any thoughts?

Hope you feel better soon, real soon! You have a graduation ceremony to attend!

about the magazines and bone pain. wish it was that easy to figure out.

last night it was the nerve ending muscular twitching thing again. couldn't get to sleep on melatonin. at 2 am took a serax. and more melatonin.  neighbors quite these days but i live in duplex and they were having a party in the connected garage (separated in a rather incomplete way at top) all their smoke of different varieties was coming through so heavy my son keeps his animals in the garage, i said open it up more (the door for cars to get in) he siad too cold for his animals. i asked him & his girl to come in house the smoke was so bad. i smelled heavy smoke bleeding though walls coming through windows till 3 am..but at least they were quiet. i think i finally fell asleep about 4ish. and i am up at 10am with a major headache - oh same one i went to sleep with.. (don't get cute on me i am not refering to a husband)

bug - graduation!!! yes, but i am thinking about the job. i was out yesterday for a few hours groc shop and networking for that job i want, it was a good thing, i need to check back monday (hoping I can physically) cause they might be hiring for that location which is close to home.  i was in building 20 min or so. but reallized -  i can make myself look good, but like, i really feel like ****.

keep drinking tons of water.... did you clear the virus short of the 24 weeks.
magnesium/calcium may help your twitches and maybe even the bone pain.  i would also take vitamin c and all vitamins.       for the coldness you may need your thyroid checked as interferon is notorious for causing thyroid prob.     make sure you get free T3, freeT4, thyroid antibodies, TSH, ferritin.   go to www.stopthethyroidmadness.com and study up.

thanks for your suggestion. yep, i probably was dehydrated. during the bone pain i was also having the most intense frontal headache a trip to the ER they hydrated me.  i would have not known i was dehydrated, but there was an overlap of tx meds and antibiotics. perhaps the combo just made it all the more difficult to drink enough.  didn't feel well enough to take care of myself  last week anyway. certain dehydration.. left my headache in the ER...
