Find some good non-alcoholic beer and start substituting. There are some decent brands out there and you get used to it. I found a brand I really like and on a hot day it works well and doesn't make me sleepy as alcoholic beer can do.
Decide If you want to live, or die because HCV and Alcohol are like gas on fire.
Beer, get real.
The picture seems pretty clear, even vivid. I just hope leafdawg didn't go somewhere else to get a more palatable answer. Leafdawg? I hope you can avoid the usual consequences of HepC + Alcohol. Liver failure is not a pretty way to go. Maybe you should be looking into a treatment for HCV.
LOL, giving ME alcohol sends me into orgy mode too; what do you know :o)?
Your liver is a filter. The beer goes through your liver no matter how much water you drink afterwards.
I love wine and living in wine coutry it hasn't been easy quitting but as soon as I was diagnosed that's just what I did.
My friend's doctor said giving hepC alcohol sends it into orgy mode.
Life is full of changes. Go with it.
LIKE MY BEER TOO, TRY NON ALCOHOLIC. THERE IS AN AMBER THAT IS OK
FINISHED TREATMENT IN MAY. HAVE NOT HAD AN ALCOHOLIC DRINK SINCE SEP 2009
DO I MISS IT.......YES
MORE IMPORTANTLY I FEEL BETTER NOW AND SOME TIME END OF THE YEAR EARLY NET YEAR I WILL BE ABLE TO HAVE ONE AGAIN
This wake up call, named HCV. The most important thing I have learned from getting this virus is my body is a temple. An old temple at that. It needs particular care. Never again will I pollute it. Once I get my health back, I will cherish it like the greatest gift it always has been, but I took it for granted. I only hope it's not to late.
one beer a day is no real drama , especially American beer which is weak, more damage gets done by otc medicines
I get the feeling leafdawg has left the building!
I have found a lot of great new friends with HCV in AA. I love the meetings, my friends and I lost all desire to drink.
if you don't mind choking on your own blood then keep enjoying your beer. it may not happen right away but it will catch up to you eventually. This disease has a strange way of sneaking up on you and BANG ! Just keep in mind dying of liver disease is probably one of the most horrible ways to go.
There are people that don't drink and have a hard time stopping liver damage, add alcohol and you are writing your death sentence
Sorry for being so harsh but what I say is true and had to be said.
Good luck
I think the everyday drinking is much worse than 1 or 2 drinks once a week your not giving your liver any time to recover before you hammer it again. When I go, I want it to be peacefully like my
Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like his passengers.
My husband's always loved beer - give him beer over wine any day. I don't understand the love story with beer but I know it's real and therefore so hard (near impossible?) to give up.
Like, really, how can you watch the World Cup without a beer, I mean...REALLY?
So why don't you treat the HepC? You can do it, you know, and then you won't accelerate your liver damage.
I'm not recommending you drink but if you treat and cure, you may be able to enjoy the stuff you love for that much longer.
Alcohol plain and simple keeps your liver racing to more damage than abstaining - that's the miserable and hard truth. And you already know that, I'm sure, so I'm not here to lecture you.
Best of luck, whatever you do.

"but how bad does the hep c affect my liver if i drinking beer everyday and tons of water afterwards and i am doin homeopathic meds, like liv 52 and milk thistle "
Well, imagine a campfire is Hepatitis C. Now, imagine beer is gasoline. Throw five gallons of beer on the fire, and see how it looks now.
As an alcoholic myself (in remission), my advice is to look into the drinking issue.
Good luck bro.
I just spent the last 3 months consoling the widows of 2 men with HCV who would not stop drinking...
they've stopped now.
mb
Only person I knew who would not quit drinking with HEP doesnt drink anything anymore.Im not kidding.
I know it's harder to "not" drink alcohol when you know you really must not. I was never much of a drinker but because I shouldn't - I really want to and I have treated and cleared.
Maybe you should visit some folks in the hospital with liver diease or just look it up on google, see if you can find some stories of what their lives are like. Or, what their family has to go through as a result.
I remember seeing a person in the hospital dying with cirrhosis of the liver, it made me ill to to my stomach. Then my cousin's wife died of cirrhosis - it was horrible. Something I would never want to go through (or my family) if I can help it.
Just trying to give you a little incentive. -stacie
How much do you know about your condition. Do you know your stage, grade and genotype and about how long you've had hep c?
You need to get treatment right away. The sooner you do, and when cured, your liver will repair and you can have your beer again. Until that time you must stop all alcohol.
it will still hurt the liver. liv52 and milk thistle will not protect the liver from beer.
Have you gone through treatment?
Not a good idea at all. It's your body and your choice though. How much do you drink everyday?
